and even if Cook did say those things right after the fight, and he probably didn't, it's weak of Arthur to be bringing up it up and telling everyone. Surely that should stay in the ring. If Cook did say it be was probably saying it to make Arthur feel better after he clearly doen him. Arthur just sounds like a big woman, again. '...so...he said that blah blah blah.....' reminds me of Hatton after the Mayweather fight, claiming PBF told him in private that he was terrified during the fight etc.....yeah right Wicky, sure looked like it huh.
He's just said he thought he'd won at the time (and Kevin Mitchell told him he'd won!!!!?????) but he now thinks Cook did enough to win.
This is where Dunky says that Arthur is just saying that because he has been told to keep the English media happy otherwise he will lose out on future TV deals etc.
Arthur is a class fighter, but he blows hot & cold too often. Not a lot of consistency about him. He needs to wake up & smell the coffee. He lost to Cook, plain & simple. I'd like to see Alex move up to LW. It plainly & probably extrmely painful for Alex, that he struggles desperately to make 130lbs. No doubt he would be stronger & probably have more stamina at 135lbs. I mean, how long has he been at SFW now? Enough is enough! Trouble with moving up to 135lbs, there are better fighters than Alex waiting for him. No disrespect to Nicky Cook, but if Arthur was well beaten by Cook, what would Guzman have done to Alex? There's levels & then there's levels, know what I mean? Where does Alex go from here because at LW guys like Cassaymayor, Guzman, Marquez, Pacquiao, Valero, all beat him. What about Arthur-Katsidis?
Glad to hear Alex has seen sense. He should have moved up 3 fights ago , In fact it would have been better if he had got his shot at Guzman at least he would have lost to a world class fighter and then he could have moved up anyway. I hope he gets another shot but LW is a deadly division right now.
In that case he gets what he deserves I remember a thing on STV a couple of years ago and there was talk then about how tight he was at the weight. He isnt getting any younger, move up to LW and see what can be doen with the time he has left
I saw an interview with Ken Buchanan where he said Arthur was killing himself at the weight, so it's no secret. Likewise Warren said the same about Frankie Gavin months before the Olympics. Some of these cases are so obvious there can be no debate... I'm convinced the 5lbs step up is less detrimental than fighting half dead. They just seem determined to hang onto the high rankings they have at the lower weight - even though they can't perform at the weight any more.
Don't oppress me with your English discrimination. You English are all the same: why can't you English forget about national identity and deal with people as individuals?
I agree, he is 30 so doesnt have too many years left. I think we would just see more of the same at 130, he should move up immediately and win or lose go for the biggest fights out there at lightweight. Amir Khan for starters.
He did say he'd thought he'd won after the fight (on the Monday or Tuesday IIRC) but recanted on Bunces show and said he thought Cook won.
