Anyone who thinks Mercante is wrong is a ****ing idiot. Lederman said the rule is a white towel does not always mean the ref has to stop it. Notice the towel was tossed when Foreman wasn't even getting hit? They were exchanging punches.

I am glad it kept going and I know Foreman was too. Did you see his face when the towel came in? He was PISSED.

He asked the corner who threw the towel and apparently they denied it.

It was a weird situation that Mercante handled great.

The corner stated in the press conference that they said 2x they throw the towel. That moron Max Kellerman came up with that **** that they are denying it

Referee ignoring the towel has happened before, and in bigger fights.

Only the referee can call the fight.

I'll tell you what though. Cotto's father died recently. So did the referee's. The referee saw fit to pay tribute to his father into the microphone before giving his referee's instructions. This was very unprofessional IMO. I understand the urge, and I sympathise with his loss, but Cotto should have been the one to decide to what degree his father was in his thoughts at that moment.

The referee was wrong to mention his father's passing i'm afraid.

Yeah, that was ****ing ludicrous. The referee went to the corner and ASKED who had thrown the towel in. Answer: "I did".

The only thing i didnt like is when they went back to there corners Yuris head trainer said he threw the towel in....so in all honesty it should have been stopped but i can also see mercantes point of view as well.

Also, great fighters are meant to find ways to win. It's not Cotto's fault that Yuri can't stand and slug. I was glad that at least Yuri got to finish without a DQ.
