:patsch. Mandatories. If Pavlik didn't fight them, there would be no belts to unify. Abraham's recent opponents are more questionable. I don't believe that Pavlik is running from AA, this fight will happen soon.

lol.. paper titles mean nothing.. and yes that means these stupid mandos mean nothing too. People give up belts to fight the big fights and Pavlik should have done this already..

Since when is Gary Lockett a viable opponent for the number 1 at 160.. pathetic.

When you earn the belts and it is your title, you are free to do with them as you wish. At this point, like it or not, they have monetary value. I don't know how over have the people on this board scream for unification and over half of them complain about mandatories. The only logical explanation is that over half of them are idiots. I'll leave the math for you to do.

So, you are saying Abraham should have dropped his belt and fight with Marquez to face Pavlik so the Bhop fight wouldn't have happened. Right?

I didn't say anything about the viablilty of the # 1's. Seems like you are criticizing Pavlik when the other belt holders at 160 are fighting even weaker opposition. With all that said, I think it's time for Pavlik and Arum to make this fight and see who the real champ is at 160.

All of your discussions on the hypothetical Pavlik-Calzaghe fight are complete nonsense.

From the moment that Calzaghe defeated Hopkins, RJJ was next up, for better or worse.

Lampley, Manny Stewart and Larry all touted it that night and within a week, in a poll on here that received hundreds of responses, A very clear majority of posters wanted to see him fight Roy.

Roy was where the $$$$$ were !

Pavlik was on the back burner. Maybe later, maybe not.

When Pavlik got schooled like a beginner by the boxer everyone said lost to Joe on account of his geriatric state, before Joe dispatched Roy, any hope Kelly had of facing Calzaghe went out the window.

I would have rather seen Joe go out against Dawson (a 50/50 fight IMO) rather than Roy, but at near 37, I can understand Joe's choice.

Pavlik wouldn't have had a prayer against Calzaghe, even the well past prime Calzaghe who faced Roy.

He would have gotten a worse thrashing than Lacy.

Kelly will have his chance for glory.

If he grows a set and faces AA !

Nothing changes the fact that Slappy joe spent 7 or 8 months practically chanting Pavlik's name, and when KP said yes, joe ran the other way, and fought a guy he repeatedly stated he had no interest in. Joe ducked Pavlik, and that is well documented.

Maybe so but it would have done wonders for Cal's career because Pavlik was undefeated and viewed very highly. Instead, it seems that Calzaghe went out on a sour note. You can question Pavlik's skills but I wouldn't question his nuts.

This isn't new at all, Abraham has been asking for this ever since knocking out Miranda in the U.S., it's Pavlik's team who haven't responded and don't seem to be interested still. What more can they ask for?, Abraham is undefeated, moving to ANYWHERE in the US for it and will bring his IBF title with him to help unify. This is the BEST fight Pavlik could ask for if he's looking to redeem his self, a win over Rubio is nothing worth mentioning but still an understandable tune-up and "mandatory".

Yeah. He called out DLH at the same time. I don't see Oscar stepping up. :rofl He looked like an idiot calling DLH out. Why did they let him do that? Problem is Arum has a decent plan for Pavlik for his next few fights. AA is not cooperating because of his weight problems. Duddy, Sturm, then Abraham would be brilliant promotionally if he can pull it off.

Would have done something for his career, no doubt.

(Though we can never be certain, given that Lacy was supposedly the next Tyson, a much scarier character than Pavlik, with a better resume and an actual 168 lb fighter. After the schooling, he was suddenly 'over-hyped' and 'never that good')

When was Calzaghe supposed to fight Pavlik, and at what weight ?

Do you seriously think he would have had a ghost of a chance (pun intended) ?

I'm not questioning Kelly's balls, but he needs to fight the only other serious challenge out there at MW, or be suspected of, at a minimum, jitters.

Like he said. All documented. You had to have been born with blinders on to have missed all this when it happened.

WTF are you babbling about, Hermit ?

Was Hopkins a complete idiot for calling out Oscar atthe welterweight ?

At least he was a jnr-middle wt when AA mentioned his name.

And he did NOT call him out but mentioned his name among several when asked who he'd like to fight next.

At that point, everyone from feather wt to light heavywt was mentioning Oscar's name.

    $$$$$$$ talks !

And as for Arum having a several fight plan for Pavlik and AA not co-operating because of weight problems ?

Do you have any idea how completely ****ing ludicrous that sounds ?

AA is ready for the fight now. Kelly (for whatever reason) isn't. Kelly needs to fight the best in the division or become an object of ridicule.
