I would also add another thing, that seems to get ignored here and should clarify that virtually all the blame for this fight not happening lies on Pavliks side: The money side of boxing works completly different in Germany than in the US. The promoters get the money from contracts negotiated with their TV station. They get a budget for the whole year and have to deliver something like 13 events for that. The reason german based fighters are so protected is, that it does not matter too much to the public, who you put in front of these guys. The TV station does not care who fights whom as long as it is a title fight. It's not like HBO, who make sure they only pick up/allow respectable fights.
Starting from this point you have to factor another thing in here: Pavlik is a complete NOBODY in Germany/Europe. He is not a draw by any means, Miranda is better known than him. I can garantuee you that probably not even 0,5% of the population knows who Kelly Pavlik is (and that is generous). What the two major Pavlik nut-huggers (you know who you are) don't seem to understand is, that your boy is far from an A-lister. He has no international regoniction. He is no Hopkins, Jones, Calzaghe, De la Hoya, Mayweather, etc.. Even guys like Kessler and Tarver are better known in Germany. The fight would be bigger than a normal fight, only because it is a unification and evin in that case Germans would rather see AA/Sturm, which would be about 10 times as big.
There is no reason for Sauerland to pretend to want the Pavlik fight. If he wanted to avoid KP and protect AA, he would just do so. Nobody in Germany (besides the few hardcore fans) would care, because nobody knows who Pavlik is. He would not start negociations and let AA instead fight bums until he retires unbeaten. He further does not earn that much more money by making that fight, especially if team Kelly wants to cut into that German TV money (I further don't know where that one guy has his 800k $ number from. It has to be signifantly higher, since even B-list fighters in Germany like Aslan and Ulrich earn arround 650 k $ per fight). So this is about ambition, AA/Sauerland desperatly wants the fight, Arum not so much...

Is that the same HBO that broadcast Pavlik v Lockett?

Long post, said nothing. It is now Pavlik's fault because of the way German TV works. Get a grip man..... You say it is up to HBO to come up with the money, so again, how is this Pavlik's fault. You agree name recognition is a problem in Germany, but it shouldn't matter that AA is not known well enough in the states for HBO to put up the money. Do you even read what you post or do you just sit down and pound keys and then press submint?

They made it clear they wouldn't pay for anymore such fights. That is why Arum did a PPV on his own dime for the last Pavlik and Cotto fights. Take off the blinders and try and see the big picture. This lets make a big deal out of an isolated fact is getting tedious. YOU are normally better than that. I can see it from some of these other guys, but not you.

You're really grasping at straws here. You know full well that the Lockett fight was suppose to be part of the build up to Pavlik/Calzaghe. You also know full well what Joe did after his stable mate got demolished.

Very nice, but completely irrelevant to the point that man-on-the-spot was trying to make that champions can fight less than stellar opponents in Germany whereas in the US HBO demands a better quality of opponent.

It was going to be a build up for Calz v Pav , also HBO has stated they are no longer showing these mis-matches .... thats why they didn't pick up the Pavlik Cotto card.

Ah yes, they are concentrating on high quality match ups now, like 'the rematch the whole world demanded', Dawson v Tarver II...

A "usually reliable" ESB source is saying Duddy is going back down to 154. Mora looks likely for May in Cleveland, but Saurland may have been wise to make his trip to the US and that is still an option for that date. NICE!!!!

That's what I said, too (regarding to both Mora) but it's even sweeter, that Duddy has to bite his time at 154 by facing Chavez Jr. - 2 mediocre bangers at their weight with not the best defence in the world and one is a bleeder?

Sounds like a FOTY candidate for me...bring it!

Did you see Duddy/Vanda? Duddy looked the best I've seen him.

Did you see Duddy's last fight? Burns has him a much different fighter. Told him he was doing well in his "anger management". I think Duddy is a new boxer under Burns. The stuff Burns was saying in the corner was actually much more interesting than the fight!
