Words like "jab" and "defense" are not usually terms you would use to describe Bloody Duddy, but John looked sharp. He brawled a bit toward the end, but he had the fight in the bag by that time.

We'll be able to tell who actually watches fights from this though. Just wait for the same lame about Duddy.....

Same with Gatti and McGirt - still a bleeder and exciting if the opponent is right...

Vanda was not a big test, but John barely had a jab in the past. That night he used it often, and couldn't miss Vanda.

I noticed Duddy eating a lot of jabs too, and we both know what can happen if you let Pavlik get through with the jab.

In the last round when Vanda finally attacked Duddy, he rocked him with a sick combo.... if he eats those types of combos against Pavlik, he going to be called bloody duddy once again.

I like John, and I want the best for him. I'm really hoping Burns takes him to 154, and keeps him away from KP.

My family is Irish decent, and on top of that Duddy seems like a standup guy who is also exciting to watch. I agree, I really don't want to see him in the ring with KP, I would rather see him fight at 154.

First of all, I didn't say he was scared of AA.

(Rarely is any boxer scared of any other boxer at this level. It is more of a calculation thing, what will this do for my career, wallet etc.)

Secondly, While JT is a better boxer than AA, he doesn't have anywhere near the power or the chin. Considerations that should weigh heavily on the mind of a Pavlik who was almost KO'd by JT and who finished up winning by stoppage while trailing on the cards.

And how much guts did it take to face BHop ?

Didn't everyone and his dad believe that Kelly was going to be maligned for the next ten years for the beating he was going to put on poor Bernard ?

Only question was which round it would end.

So when he discovered he had some shortcomings as a boxer, it's only natural that he might hesitate against someone like AA.

(Again, IMO, Kelly isn't afraid of him in the 'pain' sense. Just how his career might go if he lost).

I have said in several posts that this is a pick'em fight.

    So, You might logically post

    But to say

is a bit off the wall, handwringing and brow-wiping notwithstanding.

I can name you 4 people that thought Kelly was winning the fight. JT, KP, Manny Steward and Jack Loew. Watch the interviews. Pavlik was down right shocked post fight when he was told he was behind on the cards. Same with JT. Yeah, it was going to be a robbery. The HBO web site running score had it 6-0 Taylor. Julie Ledderman probably sat in the arena until the next day wondering why everyone left.

    I agree with Boo..
Keep Duddy away from either Pavlik or Abraham.
154lbs should be his destination instead.

Good kid though, But not a banger enough to hang with the top MW's
(Which turns out to be AA & KP pretty much)

I had JT up 4-2 (with an extra pt for the KD) at the time of stoppage.

Other than Round 2, none of the rounds were very decisive, so within the realm of reason, others could have had it different. Those who counted had it for JT also.

But none of that affects my points in the post.

The point I was responding to, had poor examples to make its case.

And, as I mentioned, I never stated that Kelly was afraid of AA.

But not being afraid of Taylor and Hops would not make the case why he SHOULDN'T be afraid of AA.

I can not believe how delusional some of these Kelly fans are with regards to apparent contracts and ability. I mean seriously, the boy's a good fighter that would get schooled by every boxer with half a pugilistic brain and he will inevitably be stopped by Abraham.

Which appears to be 50% more than you have judging from this post.

Maybe you need your glasses to watch a fight. Kelly didn't get to where he is without some talent. Anyone with half a brain would know that.
