In a Ring Magazine poll, two top-caliber contenders, junior lightweight Alex Arthur and featherweight Steven Luevano have both picked Marquez to win. The fight will be an absolute This content is protected , said Arthur, who picked Marquez to win because he is a far better boxer than Pacquiao. Arthur said in their first fight if Pacquiao hadnt dropped the Mexican three times in the first round, Marquez would have won easily. Marquez is easily the best fighter in the division. I just think Marquez is brilliant. Luevano said he expects Marquez to counter-punch again because thats the only way to catch Pacquiao, getting him on his way in. Luevano picked Marquez to win by decision.
I saw that today, Ring collected the opinions of experts and fighters from North America, Latin America and the Phillipines!!! not sure where Arthur fits in there?
Im inclined to agree with Alex even though JMM has slipped since 2004...Pac just has not looked quite the same in his last few fights either... I have a feeling that JMM will take this
Agree, i think people are underestimating JMM. He is one of the best technicians about and as he said inan interview i read, with Pac boxing more he will be alot easier to read as aposed to before when he was all gung ho and the punches where coming from weird angles. Plus JMM can punch too, people forget this, although Pac is a ferocious puncher, i think people get a little carried away with it.
i think marquez will win but i ll be rooting for pacquiao. To have beaten convincingly two living legends of the ring in barrera and morales is a great acheivement.Im hoping he ll then fight valero or guzman who are two terrific fighters at junior lightweight
Totally agree, JMM may have gone back slightly although he looked pretty good last time out against Juarez but I think Pacman has gone back more. Mannys camp reckon that he has only been 60% focussed for some of his recent fights but this time he is 100% - how often have we heard that sort of thing from boxers? I think JMM will keep out of harms way and win a clear points victory.
