I think Arthur will KO Cook. But seeing as Arthur doesn't start till the 4th, I can't see it being in the 1st.
I was just having a wee joke my man, was wondering how long the englanders here would be able to hold off from my cheeky wee comment You know me, always trying to cause havoc To be honest, I got a baaaad feeling about the fight.
I'd have a bad feeling about any fight with a relative puncher with Arthur's chin issues He needs to move up. Trouble is, lightweight is stacked with talent and super feather is there for the taking, on paper at least.
I wanted to see that little mug get smashed by Harrison a few years back... Lets hope AAA will do what Harrison should have done.
Very true, Arthur needs to move up & FAST. However, I dont think Cook has much of a dig, so I hopeful that a weight drained Arthur(cos thats what he is now) can last one more fight at SFW. Thing is though, like Foster jnr I believe the extra lbs are going to be a great advantage for Cookie, cos hes one of the worst weight drained fighters I have ever seen at feather. I mean, his build looked plain weird before the Luaveno fight he was so dead at the weight. Alex has just turned 30 I believe, & in the recent photos I have seen of him hes the fattest I have ever seen him. Dont get me wrong, he looks healthy. However, hes got a lot of weight to burn, & hes went to Cyprus to sweat it offatsch Now anyone who knows me knows I hte it when fighters sweat of the pounds in a hot climate, its cheating to make the weight. I always said it would haunt cook when he went to Spain to burn off weight, & thats exactly what happened. he fought Luaveno, & we know what happened. Now Arthur is doing the same, & the alarm bells are ringing in my big scottish head. & the fact that Cook is a better all round fighter than Foster & Arthur has to travel down into the belly of the beast, & heres my main worry, Warrren ENCOURAGED Arthur to go to Cyprus & sweat off his weight... I smell a rat. A big rat with googley eyes & rosy cheeks who wants Cook to win...
I would have thought Team Arthur have their own ideas for shredding weight, I doubt Frank Warren has a huge influence over that, and if he does they are pretty stupid. But its got to be done, if thats the easiest way to do it so be it. Didn't work badly for Haye last time, the key is to do it at a sensible rate over a longer period to allow the body to adjust. Having to do too much in the last week is asking for trouble. He should be well into training by now. Although Cook was pretty big at feather, he's very small compared to Arthur who looks more like a natural lightweight on fight night and has a 3" height advantage. He could be reinvigorated at this weight though, so it is a dangerous fight for Arthur. Cook will put up a brave effort, and cause one or two shakey moments, but Arthur should stop him mid to late
Alright Dunky Good post mate, your right about Arthurs weight, I saw a photo of him taken this week and has definately got a good few pounds to shift. Your getting me a bit worried about the weight making thing, mind you it worked for David Haye against Enzo.
I agree Arthur should be fighting at lightweight these days, thing is he's never really had any big money fights but should be getting a bigger purse now he has a belt (even if its the Warren owned WBO one). If he can make a few defences against average opposition then he can make some decent money for his family in his last few years as a top level boxer. If he moves up he may well be stronger and have more energy but like you said the division is packed with talent and he may well get the sort of beating that would effectively finish his career at age 30. We shall see. Thing about Arthur is he certainly doesnt lack self belief and he may well truly believe that he can move up to 135 and win another belt.
Think about it though for a minute TFFP my good man. Warren jobbed Guzman out of his title. Why? Cos he wants all options on that WBO belt. If Guzman beat Arthur, then it was goodbye to that title. So he jobs Guzman, Arthur gets the full title, & now Arthur fights Cook for it, two Warren fighters. Warren is in a win-win situation. & the winner fights Khan, & of course as you say Cooke is the smaller man, & as we all know Warren likes putting Khan in with smaller men. So if Cooke beats Arthur, he steps up to lightweight to face Khan, & being the naturally smaller man, Khan should pul through, & gets a world champions name on his record. warrens got this all thought out, & I believe he wants Cooke to win cos in the grand scheme of things he would rather feed Cookie to Khan than a natural lightweight like Arthur. Its matchmaking genius from Warren, & he cant lose. Unless Arthur wins... I could be wrong, but I would be shocked if I was. From a P4P fighter like Guzman to Nicky Cook in England? Something stinks. & coming to think of it, how the hell does Cook deserve a shot at a world title right now? The questions mount.
Cheers Girv my good man. Hayes a good example of a fighter who sweated the weight off, but hes a big man & doesnt need to make the weight of a pre-pubescent! Hopefully though Im just being paranoid & Arthur makes the weight comfortably.
