GUZMAN BATTLES ARTHUR ON PAC-MARQUEZ CARD! By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 10 Jan 2008 Sources have informed that WBO superfeatherweight champion Joan Guzman of the Dominican Republic has been included in the huge March 15 card at the Mandalay Bay, as he defends his title against Alex Arthur of the United Kingdom. The main event will feature the highly-anticipated rematch between Filipino superstar Manny Pacquiao against Mexican icon Juan Manuel Marquez. Guzman is one of the fighters who have been calling out Pacquiao to a fight, even going as far as attending the Pacquiao-Barrera post fight press conference to personally challenge Pacquiao to a fight. Also slated to fight in the March 15 card is WBC lightweight king David Diaz, who is being groomed to face Pacquiao next should the Filipino prevail over Marquez. Also, WBO featherweight champ Steven Luevano will defend his title against the very tough Thai fighter Terdsak Jandaeng, who holds the prestigious WBO Asia Pacific title.
Talking of reality, who are 'PhilBoxing.com'? I've never heard of them - just wondering if they are a reliable source before we get carried away?
No, same people who led with a story on Calzaghe Hopkins being in the Yankee Stadium. Appears they get tit bits of info then write articles in the hope the prophecies come true. Articles based on rumour imo.
Good. It will be nice to see Arthur have his ass handed to him, so he can shut the **** up about becoming undisputed at 130 and 135.
I am not sure why Arthur deserved this fight after his last performance; I thought Joan would fight Valero...:think
Because he's interim champion, if Guzman doesn't defend he has to vacate. I'm surprised I would've thought he would've vacated. If the fight does go ahead Arthur will never have a better chance to get in with the elite.
Well, Joan will certainly not duck Arthur; he will fight him unless he has the option of fighting someone better instead!
Never seen guzman fight and watching arthur a few weeks back did not store any confidence him beating a world class operator like Guzman. Also we can hear floyd snr talk his usual shite.
I think this fight will have only one winner, and that is Guzman. Nevertheless, it'll be a good fight. I think it'll be stopped within 9 rounds.
No chance of Guzman ducking him, I'm just surprised he hasn't vacated coz it looked like was struggling to make weight and was moving up to 135.
