Not much use that to Arthur really... it must be nice for him to be training and eating carbs!!!! I hope the move to lightweight suits him, cos he will struggle to get back down if it does not work out... :bbb
Im ****in buzzing about Arthur taking on the world at a more natural weight AT ALAST!!! Alex is world class, him & Scotty harrison were always a bit special, but both have had crazy careers, for different reasons. Scotty was on the brink of a superfight before outside influences ruined his career, whereas Alex Arthur just hung around killing himself to make the weight for years & it eventually resulted in him losing to an inferior fighter in Cook. Now that Alex has wisened up, I expect Alex Arthur to become a big player at lightweight, & who knows, maybe beyond. hes always had the talent, he just hung around at the wrong weight for too long. Now the beast will be unleashed, & all of Alex Arthurs haters better beware, thats all I am saying.
Dunky mate you really do let patriotism get in the way of your judgement sometimes. Arthur will go nowhere at 130 thats a certainty
dan684, I have always said here tht you will se the best of Alex Arthur when he fights at a more natural weight. You hve no idea how happy I was when I saw Alex Arthur enter the ring looking healthy for the first time in years, he physically looked like completely different person from the gaunt Arthur that we have all seen in recent years just being happy to have made the weight, & forgetting there were fights to be won at the end of his slog. I mean this from the bottom of my big scottish heart, patriotism doesnt come into my reckoning when I say that Alex Arthur will be a beast at his new weight, & will become a big player at lightweight, & maybe beyond. I know I wont win many friends for saying so as Arthur is an unpopular fighter on this forum, but I aint here to win friends. I am here to throw my educated hat of opinion into the ring, & on that hat is written- Alex Arthur will be a beast at his new weight.
Well thats your opinion but I mean this from the bottom of my heart pal I will be truly shocked if he went anywhere near beating the likes of your Diaz's (any of them) Casamayor, Valero, Guzman and the like. I think Katsidis could beat him and think if Khan comes down to Lightweight he'll beat him pal.
whether or not artgur has what it takes to become a genuine champ at lightweight is debatable what is nt debatable is that tonights fight was a complete waste of time and told us nothing
Just aswell he is now fighting at 135 then. Hopefully Warren gets him on the Khan v Kotelnik undercard in 4 weeks with a slightly better opponent.
I would like to see him fight Thaxton or Murray next and possibly for the British title now its vacant. Hennessy and Warren presumably came to an agreement to let McIntosh and Cleverly fight so why not Arthur against Thaxton or Murray. Very good domestic fight either way and even if Thaxton/Murray get it on in September then Arthur could fight the winner come January. Everyone is moaning and worried about Setanta and ITV going away in terms of boxing coverage but it could work for us in terms of quality as all the promoters are going to be lobbying much harder to get there guys in British title shots and the quality could improve immensely. Just a view and I realise some prefer more, no matter what the quality, but I think there are a good few fights out there that could be made if we perhaps did not have so many pies to accomdate so many fingers:bbb
The fight last night done more harm than good if you ask me, Warren has alot to answer for with Arthurs career, he has not fought in almost a year, but why put him in with someone who would be a decent opponient for a prospect with around 10 fights. It was a must that Arthur went a good few rounds last night, his next fight may well be against someone who would give a active Arthur a hard nights work, so less than a round in 1 year isnt going to do him any good, In two years he has fought 4 times. I would like to see Arthur fight Thaxton/Murray/Limond next, he may not like it but he is not going to walk right into an other world title fight.
Well said:good It was a nothing fight, the opponent just came to lose. Nothing was learned, nothing was gained.
