They change the rules over the years so that Americans can't win in the Olympics even then Floyd Jr was rob of a point and we all know the Roy Jr story it's becoming a waste when you can develop your talent to making some serious money.

    I like boxing.

Boxing has been plagued by the " theres nobody good anymore" crowd, since John L. Sullivan retired. That is a fact.

Good ole days boxing fans are whats wrong with boxing today.

i think the trainers and/or boxers are pressured to produce more exciting fights.

Good point. When we look back in history, we always focus on the best fighters and the best matches. Then conclude today's fighters and fights aren't as good.

The sport faces declining enthusiasm in the US but as long as I watch a fight - any fight - with my heart in my throat, boxing is doing fine.

    Not enough good trainers
Amateur fights being the way they are, especially the scoring.
    Too many belts and champions.
    Too many weight divisions.
And day before weigh ins are no good either. They really cause more harm than good for the fighters and the sport.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot too many PPV's at too high of a cost. Add that to the large list.

what is wrong with boxing, is too many steroid cheaters like Pacman, Shane "EPO-man" Mosley, Hopkins, etc.

and another thing thats wrong is scared chickens like Pac that ducked Humberto Soto and so many other fighters and just cherrypicks weight-drained has beens.

then there are FIXED FIGHTS that Pac hs had.

    Pac-DelaHoya was FIXED
    Pac-Clottey was FIXED
    Pac-Margarito was FIXED
    Pac-Mosley was FIXED

and now, Pac-Marquez will be FIXED too.

    Wrong.

    Im straight.
Im not a ***goott like most of you clowns here are.

I did forget to put that another thing wromg with boxing is idiot pacfans, pacsexuals, pacretards that dont know boxing and make things up.

another thing wrong with boxing is Mosley & Floyd fans that are to ashamed to admit that Mosley is a steroid cheater and still is.
and Floyd is a chicken, just like Pac is a chicken too.

Nothing better then slagging off the current generation, i'm gonna go masturbate to Langford v Jeanette which just surfaced recently!

But seriously, no disrespect to the legends of yesteryear but I am so sick of so called fans constantly bashing their own sport.

One thing you can say is that the American ama system is producing some fighters who don't have the toughness to become pro's. This is always the case but more so then ever before. But even with that being said America still produces great fighters.

    Good post.

Poor matchmaking, poor promotion and the press turning away from the sport are the big issues.

"I do not see Cassius Clay as a candidate for a place among the top 10 heavyweights. Nor may Frazier, his conqueror, eventually force me to revise my all-time heavyweight ratings."

You can also find 'boxing is dead' articles from every decade going back more then one hundred years.
