http://www.boxing.com/pacquiao_robbednow_nobody_is_safe.html During the HBO broadcast, Harold Lederman named Duane Ford the judge who teaches other judges how to judge. Choosing my words carefully now, I say that Ford, at best, is an idiot who is not fit for purpose. To be brutally frank if he were a sheepdog you would take him behind the barn and blow him away based upon this day on the farm. His 115-113 card in favor of Bradley cannot be defended on any level. C.J. Ross produced the same score. Ross, in my opinion, was confirmed as inadequate even before this fight was made, her inexplicable habit of coming up with draws in fights that have clear winnersHolt vs. Tackie, Lara vs. Molina, Mares vs. Agbeko, Burgos vs. Cruzconfirming her as incapable even before her latest and greatest bungle. Of course, we have had bad decisions before, many of them. Why the collective angst this time? I think its born of the understanding that if they can do it to Manny Pacquiao they can do it to anyone. Paquiao is a global superstar, one of the hallowed cash cows of the sport and the second best boxer anywhere on the planet, whatever dumb and dumber might think. If whoever can take the fight away from for whatever reason no pugilist on the planet is safe. The only way to win a fight is by knockout. Not everybody feels it was a robbery, but if you think it was maybe drop the Nevada State Athletic Commision a line or two letting them know what you think: This content is protected
The judges are, at best, inept. At worst, they're corrupt. Either way, all of these three shouldn't be anywhere a major fight again. How can anyone be put into.such a huge fighter after scoring Rios/Abril for Rios? It's a joke.
Sometims it's so blatantly bad that you must realize it goes beyond the concept of inept judges. This is corruption. They may know how to judge a fight just fine. They are told whom to favor, so nothing else need factor in. I don't think it has anything to do with "bad judging." They know what they're doing, and they're getting paid well to do it.
Nice article. I've been spending my afternoon researching the NAC rules and regulations regarding disciplinary actions for judges. There definitely needs to be more adjudication hearings brought before the commission to hold these judges accountable. The lack of disciplinary action, however, leads you to believe the commission itself may need to be investigated.
When u pay a judge 500-1000$ they can too easily be compromised. Criminal investigation needs to happen. Somebody or a group payed off the two judges and comitted a crime making $ on betting Bradley with hedging the under.
Write all the letters you want. It won't do any good. Wanna' stop this crap? Don't buy PPV. That's it, end of story. -but you won't do this, will you? You'll just complain & pound your fists, and shout "somebody should really DO something about this!" Good luck with that.
If you bothered your arse to click on the link you'd know that I'm not buying Bradley-Pacquiao II and urge everyone else to do the same.
Why doesn't the FBI do a proper investigation on boxing / nsac/ judges and not just from today but this is a recurrent problem. If they have and found nothing then.. hey not alot you can do until more honest individuals get into leadership positions in the sports adminstration/business side.
Agreed. These people don't care about doing the right thing. They only care who's lining their wallets. If we the fans stop lining them, it will suddenly matter. Emails sent to them will be deleted without a second thought. Hit them where it hurts, and stop ****ing buying PPV. That said, this will never happen, I know.
I wasn't addressing "you" specifically. Although, you, too will likely eventually fall back into the regular routine. (and me, too.) It's just a matter of time.
I am not going to stop buying PPV/supporting the crooks because: a) boxing as a sport is a great sport. DESPITE the corruption b) lack of a commsioner / proper oversight in the modern era, allows you to accept this kind of thing as to be expected - I know when I buy one it is part of the "show", the question of what corruption is taking place this time. Just a testament to what a great sport it is that it survives despite the worst lack of adminstration/ethics/oversight in all of sports
