Now think about Mike Tyson being able to stand over a fallen foe. From John L. Sullivan until Dempsey lost the title a fighter could stand over a downed opponent and slam him with both hands as soon as he tried to stand up. No standing 8 counts, no saved by the bell, no going to a neutral corner. After knocking down an opponent Mike would get to stand over them and hit them as soon as they tried to get up. Such a fighter would be a sitting duck for his sizzling uppercuts and smashing hooks. Good luck surviving that.

The article was pretty well-written, but it seemed a little too pro-Tyson to me. Though I put Mike ahead of guys like Tunney and Johnson at ATG, I'm not completely convinced he'd beat them (I can see Tunney getting overwhelmed by the size and defense of Mike, but Johnson might have even stopped him).

That said, I do have Mike above all of those guys on my ATG list.

I think Johnson would be wiped out by a young Tyson in short order.

Only one I feel Tyson might have trouble with is Johnson, and that's only if it's under the rules of Johnson's day.

Dempsey beats Tyson and Jeffries would give Tyson a scare with his toughness

The article's arguments boil down to "too small and didn't know how to box". It's actually funny how the article can claim that Jeffries wasn't too big for Tyson because Jeffries didn't have the same boxing skills, but Tunney, who has better boxing skills, wasn't big enough? Seems a bit double-standard

A post that reeks of either modernism or extreme Tyson fanboying.

Tyson is good enough at his best that he can be favored over anyone. That said, people like Johnson, Jeffries or Fitzsimmons lived through fighting. It's silly to act like they couldn't fight.

He almost lost to cocaine addict Tony Tucker! But yeah he would beat Douglas maybe in his dreams!
Johnson would beat Tyson but only Tyson would do successfully would biting his ear and after that Tyson fans would find way to proclaimed that win and bring new excuses!

Prime foreman makes short work of Holyfield imo. He could have knocked him out in their first fight if he pressed in the fourth. Douglas as well
