    No, he wouldn't.

People like you make him out to be some miracle.

This guy fought a good fight, that's it. He was a solid HW contender.

He was beaten several times and some of those losses were against below par fighters.

Well what was Briggs supposed to say at the end of the fight?

'Vitali sucks, Foreman and Lewis hit harder' ?

It does seem to be a common factor ,that opponents rate Vitallys power higher than people who have scrutinised his career on film.

    Just putting it out there.

Im not knocking Vitalis power, im just stating that Briggs obviously made those comments in good faith after having his **** pushed in for 12 rounds.

    Film doesn't lie though.

Vitali never showed genuine knockout power against the better heavyweights. He's a stiff puncher, but more an attrition puncher than a genuine knockout puncher.

Buster DID lose his mother just before the fight, but in his interview on HBO he said it motivated him to be in his best shape and win it for her.His father said he was in his best shape ever, mind and body.Tyson DID make excuses after the fight he was the one who said a quart of vodka a day and less focused training, this coupled with managerial and wife problems, screwed him up.Buster boxed well, but no different from Holmes,Biggs,Thomas,Tubbs,Tucker etc when Tyson is on,it doesn't matter what the opponent does, they are systematically torn down.Williams and McBride? Tyson should have retired by then. The other fighters who beat Mike(lewis and Holyfield) I believe had more left "in their gas tank" at that point in their careers.Holyfield said about a month ago on televiosion that when Tyson was in his prime, with his unique bobbing head movement and speed,no one could touch him.

Look at Buster's physical condition in the Tyson fight and look at it in his other fights.
He did produce a miracle that night. It was not to be again.

It is time for me to put my two cents in...

In contrary to most arm chair pistoleros I have met both in person, face to face with either no or very little entourage in their primes, I once was even at Tyson camp when he sparred with McCall.

First of all lets use them in their respective primes, sound body and mind , no life BS, injuries or excessive partying. That puts Tyson around Biggs, Holmes and Spinks, WK around Peter/Brewster and up, VK Lewis, Johnson, Sanders and Williams.

So lets forget about Douglas or his entire past prison career, Purrity, Byrd , Sanders and so on.

THe golden goose to beat the K brothers is to pressure them and not let them sit back and potshot or armpunch you to death.

Vitali is not a big guy, tall , yes, but almost skinny and definitely not big boned, more looking like the manual heavy labor body. The key to beat him is pressure and make him fight, that was the reason Lewis jumped on him right away and took the fight to him aka he could not establish his routine. Once in the trenches Tyson would work the the body overtime, take his legs and catch him with short hooks and especially his trade mark bodt/uppercut combo, What most of you guys do not understand is Tyson extreme quickness of hand and feet, counterpunching abilities, closing the distance and punch leverage and he is very, very hard to hit clean. He would use the same tactics as Lewis and turn it into a slugfest, plain and simple plus VK has no inside game, a poor uppercut and needs range because he does not throw crisp short punches.

Insert Tyson into the VK/Lewis affair and VK will not see the distance, the bodywork alone will guarantee that VK cannot use his legs and is forced to fight trench war fare.

Remember , Lewis had no problem walking right into VK with no respect what would be coming back but against a stoned washed up Tyson impersonator he played it super safe.

Against WK a similar recipe would apply, WK HATES pressure, panics when pushed out of his safety first comfort zone, if Brewster can walk him down , Tyson will do it with ease, hell the extremely limited but strong as a ox Peter had him legitimately hurt and down one time, Tyson is on another planet talent wise to Peter and would never let WK off the hook once hurt. That could be a very early KO or WK hangs on for live a la Bone Crusher for a UD loss.

David Haye.......first of all he would never ever get into the ring with Tyson, fact, but for arguments sake lets say they fight.
Haye is a reflex/athletic speed type of fighter, problem is, Tyson is faster and will beat him to the punch and time Haye wide lunging in hooks KO'ing him cold, This is almost a mismatch, even if Haye runs for dear life Tyson showing no respect will catch him for the above reason rather quickly.

Povetkin is to stiff, does most of it good but not great, gets hit too easy , he would eat some serious leather when he starts to trade, entertaining fight for a handful of rounds but that will be that.

The rest , Adamek, Del Boy, Fury, Wilder , the fat Mex , Stiverne etc etc cannon fodder at best, none of them could cope with the speed or ever seen anything remotely to it.

Let me point out again, PRESSURE is the key to defeat the K brothers, Sanders had VK uncomfortable while jumping on him early, Lewis tore him up literally trading, Brewster and Sanders made WK collapse and Peter pushed him to the max .

There are many things Tyson does exceptionally well in the ring and putting the pressure on is one of them.

Really good post; I also feel that pressure is the best way to beat the Klitschko brothers.

Why? Lewis had no intentions of getting involved in a long fight, that's what I think.
Vitali wasn't highly rated when they fought and everyone thought Wlad was by far the better of the two brothers. Few gave Vitali a chance versus Lewis.

Lewis also phoned Sanders remember, and told him to start fast against Wlad. He obviously saw something and when it worked against Wlad, he must have surely hedged his bets that the same would happen with Vitali, being the 'poorer' brother.
You are right that Vitali fought aggressively against Lewis, but by the same token I think Lewis was planning an early night himself.

Also this. Wlad was very sick? So how come he beats the **** out of Brewster for 3 1/2 rounds? How did he pass the medical? If you have proof, lay it out here. Otherwise it's another weak excuse.
Wlad made the same mistake he made with Puritty...punched himself out against a guy he could not stop and paid for it when the other guy started hitting back.
There were sign of him doing it aganst Wach as well...going for the KO he could not get, and tiring badly. Wach was just too limited to take advantage of that.

I asked for proof. This isn't it. Wlad's fans are fond of saying that he was 'poisoned', blaming - of all people - his own trainer, whom Vitali has still worked with for years afterwards.
If there was something genuinely suspicious, why was the bout not declared a NC?
    Because there is no proof.

Well then by definition you just admitted THERE IS NO PROOF!!!..and never will be..All you do because all you know how to do is make excuses for the brothers...Tyson in his prime 0% chance he loses to these Momo's.

I've never said that the 'puzzle' is simple to figure out. I made a thread about Wlad's style last year and asked the forum which style would be ideal to counter his.
I'll give Wlad his props for being a highly effective - if boring - fighter. I'm fully aware of the challenges that a fighter facing him has to deal with.

But by the same token, it must be realized that his style is based around protecting a weakness, or a relative weakness given the level at which he operates. The really good fighters in history should be able to exploit that, at least to some degree.

And exactly what is it in your over active imagination that makes you think Tyson could beat a 6' 6" 250 lb technically sound hard punching opponent?

    Other than your fanboyism.
