Yes mate I think we pretty much had close to identical socrecards for every fight.

Overall good night of boxing a few poor fights here and there but the main event ended the card on a high note atleast.

i would like to see benavidez against either of these 2. combination punching troubles beterbiev, he is not great at punching in between your punches, so he rides out till you are done and eats some in the process. benavidez is never done. but beve is still a beast and i dont know if benavidez can ride out the ones that do get through.
and with bivol, i think benavidez can sustain the pressure that beterbiev was unable to sustain today. bivol is no spring chicken. but he did look properly prepared today, so he could very well handle the pressure for 12, while bettering benavidez conn ect count. i want to see.

    I think it's a combination;

Amazing genetics. Caucus people aren't the same as Western European or Eastern European Caucasians. These people are mountain and have very tribal and insular bloodlines.

He trains like a beast and is naturally very strong.

Probably does PEDs but they all do. Some PEDs are legal and some aren't. You would be surprised what you can legally take and still pass a drugs test with VADA, USADA, UKAD and WADA.....

Yeah, on paper losing to a 39-year old and barely beating a 40-year old doesn't exactly scream P4P. On the other hand, Beterbeiv isn't a normal 40 year old, he hits like a mule and is not easy to beat even at this age. So credit to Bivol for that performance. This time he really was loading up and finding more openings landing cleaner this time, and he mixed in some flashy combinations. Artur's face was marked up pretty good but he just doesn't have the power to keep Artur off. In fairness I don't think anyone can keep Artur off, he's just too tough!

If they go straight into a 3rd fight I'm not as sure that Bivol will win as some are acting like. The sense I get is that Bivol had to really push himself hard to eek out this decision. It was impressive but I don't know if he will be able to motivate himself to put on this type of performance again. This type of performance doesn't happen automatically is all I'm saying. Of course, most people thought he won the first fight, so based on that you would expect him to win again, but there's always the chance that Artur goes out on his shield in a 3rd fight and pushes himself harder while Bivol maybe doesn't perform as well.

Of course you'd have to favor Bivol again but a rubber match would be more unpredictable, as this rematch felt like it was Bivol's for the taking, as the narrative was that there would be a trilogy even as this fight was happening which was weird, given that it was close and given that Bivol was down and had to come back.

I think it would actually make sense to have Bivol fight Benavidez next, then the winner fighting Beterbiev. Then we can think about Canelo stepping up to fight the winner of that after he takes care of his 168 lb business this year. We'll see, I did enjoy this fight, it was a fun back and forth fight, better than the first, but I don't think a 3rd fight would be as interesting as Bivol vs Benavidez or even Bivol Canelo 2 for that matter. I think Benavidez is going to be a problem for Bivol if they fight, because unlike Artur who is a harder hitter but more basic, Benavidez has a higher work rate and I'm not sure Bivol can keep him off for 12 rounds, but I would like to see that.

Once and he maintained his pace. But Beterbiev gassed in the mid rounds in this fight. Never seen that before from him. He has been in fights where he got the stoppage late.

    I have to agree.

Opetaia has a real shot. If he unifies at cruiser and wins 1 belt at heavy, he has a real case.

I think Beterbiev thought he could take out Bivol aswell and maybe made the mistake of going for it too much maybe he mistook Bivol's game plan as him being hurt so put his foot on the gas more

He also put a lot of effort in after round 3 and Bivol is an elite fighter who managed the fight perfect imo makes sense he was more tied towards the end.
It did not stop him going for the knockout in the 12th

Bivol is the champ so will get a ring where after taking two steps backwards he's not on the ropes. The third will be 118 110 region imo.

I have no idea where I read this, nor do I know where to even find it now or what fight it was, but anytime I see rabbit punch all I can think about is this quote I read when I first got into boxing. Wish I could find it, this ain't even an exact quote so it prolly won't come off as funny, but just imagine reading this at the end of what was otherwise a pretty serious recap of a fight

"Trailing in the cards, he managed to win the fight by knockout after successfully exploiting a weakness in his opponent's defense. Namely, the back of his head."
