He's not unbeatable per se, nor a complete boxer, but he's grown in professional savvy to augment the destructiveness he showed in his early bouts, and no other 175 currently out there is getting by him.

I gotta say something that will be quite unpopular with his fanboys. But Beterbiev is an excellent sly rabbit puncher. He clearly targets right behind their ears. He did the same goddamn thing to Gvozdyk, landing probably more rabbit punches than he did clean shots to the face. So much so, the bruising on Gvozdyk's brain was on the back of his head. Same thing tonight, almost every knockdown shot in the combinations that he was landing, were equilibrium jarring shots to the back/top/side of Joe's head. Now he was being presented with that target due to Joe's poor positioning. But to act like shots in that particular area don't have more of an effect, you'd have to be deluding yourself. So if the Bivol match gets made, his corner needs to bring that up with the ref ahead of time. To keep a close eye on that tactic of his. I'm not saying he's a dirty fighter, but due to his positioning, he's always able to take advantage of that opening, which is borderline skirting being illegal. Basically, he gets the benefit of a foul, without officially committing a foul. His subtle deceptive caveman mauler technique, of his excellent footwork combined with brawling combinations usually capped off with a clubbing shot, allows him to camouflage it quite well.

You’re allowed to punch on the side of the head right? Smith was trying to almost turn away from punches, so understandably refs are more lenient. Beterbiev does find that spot above/behind the ear but you can’t call that rabbit punching or being dirty. Opponents try to hide when their gloves are being punched, that’s why it opens up.

Wasn’t about what you said but more about the delusional things people were saying leading up to the Bivol fight.

Damn. I knew Smith was getting overrated, like grossly overrated, but did not see this blowout coming.

This was a statement by Artur.

Sometimes it's right on the border of the side and back of the ear, whereas with Gvozdyk he was just nailing him to the back of the head at times. Of course it's the opponent's mistake that he's taking advantage of, but strange how he always manages to position himself to take advantage of those borderline illegal shots. I didn't call it dirty, I called it borderline and sly, sometimes it's a rabbit punch, sometimes it isn't. But he always makes sure it's the fault of the opponent, and make no mistake, he's looking for that shot.

Yeah, Beterbiev, because I find him an undynamic emotionless bore and don't enjoy watching him.

My favorite thing about this fight was that just before the ref stopped it Beterbiev nailed Smith with a right uppercut immediately followed by a left uppercut. You rarely, if ever, see that. Those punches ended Smith's night.

He does get close to that borderline and refs do sometimes call it, the ref warned him at the Olympics when he hurt Usyk with a bodyshot. Usyk was holding his kidney but I dunno.. I think it’s more opponents are just trying to hide in the ring and they turn into it as much as anything. You know like the first time sparring and you think if you look at the ground you’re not going to get hit? Hahaha
