Arthur has a lot more than bone crushing power. I see good technique , accuracy and variation. This man is very hard to beat
Yeah and that sad....people realising he have skills only when beating an american fighter...Gvodyk who? anyway.
I think it’s safe to say that Beterbiev, like Inoue, is a smart technical fighter with brutal power in both hands. Inoue is a sniper while Beterbiev is a machine gun.
Despite looking a bit slower against Yarde he still maintains an impressive ring IQ. I notice how well he's able to quickly spin Yarde's back into the ropes, very Duran-esque.
Beterbiev showing once again why he’s more than just a KO wrecking ball but a smart technical boxer. He dissected Smith and destroyed him. His jab was on point in that fight. Now is the time for him to face Bivol and show everyone that he’s the man of 175.
I can't wait for it. They are both special fighters. Although, I think Bivol will win a VERY close points decision.
His defence and management of range was so good tonight that I think he could brush off quite a bit of Bivol's offence
To me, he is hard to outbox, atleast in his weight division, and that's rn the only way to beat him. He was outboxing Gvozdyk. Don't know how the Judges had Olek leading before the stoppage. Beterbiev is an exceptional boxer as well, besides his exceptional physicality. I also have an apt nickname for him. 'Stonehands'.
Yeah his skills are underrated, everyone just sees the power and ignores all the little subtle things he does so well. His foot work for example, he's no plodder, he's actually very light on his feet when he needs to be. Yes he's often planted for power but when he needs to dance, he moves very lightly and smoothly on the back foot. Whenever he's cornered he gets on his toes and can easily evade an opponent. He counters well and like Crawford uses the intercept type counters which is riskier as you are throwing a counter when your opponent is also throwing rather than making your opponent miss and then counter. But this riskier countering style is also more devastating and in part why both Crawford and Beterbiev are such lethal punchers. Yes it means both tend to get hit more as well but they are both adept enough at it that even when they do get hit, they are rolling with the punch to mitigate it's power. It was his counter right hand that hurt Smith that led to the stoppage, make no mistake Beterbiev is one of the best counter punchers in boxing. His punch variety is impressive as his selection, the way he throws fast, light shots to manipulate an opponents guard to create openings which is so effective against the high guard Smith utilises and no doubt will be a factor in his fight with Bivol. He very skilled on the inside. I don't mean punching on the inside but how he controls his opponent inside and sets up those punches. Whenever Smith got inside, he used his forearm like Mayweather used to to create space, he posts with his lead hand and frames with it too as well as using it to control his opponents head. Many people don't see these things when watching a fight, they are just concerned with punches landing, but it's the use of these skills that mean a fighter can land punches and dictate the fight on the inside.
Remember when they tried to lock Serge up in an insane asylum for saying that Beterbiev is more skilled than Spence? They laughed, jeered and spat in my face for that even though I was, as per usual, 100% right again. I and others told people for years his boxing skills were very underrated and they weren't just underrated they are criminally underrated. It's not just a case of him being underrated in that regard anymore - most fans who KSAB realize he has much better skills than many credited him for having - I think it's clear he's actually one of the most skilled fighters out there. And the amount of people, and I mean just those within the trade, who I've heard say he's ''vulnerable'' because he suffered a KD against a massive puncher in Callum Johnson whose hooks sound like HW shots is ridiculous. He's fought lots of big punchers amateur and pro. I've never seen him get dropped in the amateurs even when he fought at the highest level up at HW against much heavier opponents. Crawford has been badly hurt by tiny Gamboa and dropped by one of the only legit punchers his size he's ever fought in Mean Machine but not once have I ever heard anyone within the trade, be they fighters, reporters, trainers, pundits, promoters etc. ever describe him as being ''vulnerable'' or make an issue out of his punch resistance. I can list many others too.
