When Beterbiev is asked if he is good, he answers : "not yet, but I am working on it". I will take his words!

He's the only champion in the sport with a KO 100% but even more impressive only 1 of his last 10 opponents had legitimately been stopped before and 8 of the 20 opponents he's fought have only been stopped legitimately by him. Joe Smith suffered an early career stoppage loss but that was due to injury. So Beterbiev has a KO 100% despite the fact he's fought a lot of durable guys

Whenever there's chatter of Beterbiev being done or ripe for the picking his performance improves lol.

I think it's understandable given his age but even though he's past his prime there was no decline from his last fight against Yarde even though it was a year ago which surprised me. He looked great last night.

Imagine what he would've achieved had he turned pro in his late teens or early 20s instead of aged 28.5?

Or even promotional issues/politics didn't rob years of his career. He was ready for the elite in 2013-2014.

That's the thing. Even though he was 28.5 when he turned pro his career has been blighted with a lot of inactivity due to promotional issues and injury.

    I
Iceman scully did an interview before the fight saying that Beterbiev was not 100% for the Yarde fight because of the infection, and that he was 100% ready for this one. After the fight, I am willing to believe him.

Beterbiev also showed excellent footwork tonight, and that attribute was not attributed to King Arthur before.

He's declined a bit in terms of being able to sustain offensive intensity, but he's improved his defensive awareness and ring IQ as he's gotten older. He didn't really get tagged with more than one punch at a time, and was able to step out of range and reset more effectively than he has in the past.

Although it seems sacrilegious to put these two names in the same sentence, it occurred to me that Beterbiev is what Babic thinks he is

Bump. I'm starting to get the feeling we might end up seeing a high level chess match along with some brutal action as it goes on. Beterbiev's boxing skill and IQ is still being overlooked. Wouldn't surprise me if somehow Beterbiev finds a way to win with just his boxing skills alone.

    If Bivol's boxing skill is 10/10, Arthur's is 8/10.

    If Artur's power is 10/10, Bivol's is 5/10.

Agreed, he's a far better boxer than given credit for. He almost always boxes his opponents into a position that he can unload power.

I don't think so. I've seen multiple sites citing him as the most formidable 175'er besides guys like Charles, Moore and Jones jr....

Really admire the fact that Beterbiev is actually a much more technical fighter than people give him credit. It’s amazing how he managed to be highly competitive against the supposed better boxer in a technical fight that was supposed to favor Bivol but still managed to find a way to finish strong. Even if you thought Bivol won the majority of the rounds Beterbiev has shown that his ring IQ is great. The way he adjusted towards the end of the fight is impressive.
