Artur Beterbiev is a 6'0.5 31 years old Light Heavyweight with a 9-0 9 KO's record. Born in Kasavyurt, Russia and currently fighting out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He beat Mekhontsev and Kovalev in the amateurs, but lost to Atoev and Usyk. He's looks crude but he has skills aplenty and they are very subtle, and what he lacks in skill but makes up for it with brute strength. His opponent are almost instantly overwhelmed at the quickness and ease in which he's shifted his way up in their face, completely cutting off the ring leaving them nowhere to run to. Beterbiev the Boogyman the Russian KO Machine has come to unleash a Reign of Terror by way of Groupe Yvon Michel. Now that Beterbiev has annihilated Cloud they're will no stopping his savage rise, he and Kovalev will walk over the LHW division and one of them will overthrow the imposter King Adonis in a savage coup, although the cowardly Stevenson may bend the knee and abdicate his Throne, before that happens. Leading to a Battle of the Russian Bears for the Ages, Kovalev-Beterbiev. Kneel Down before the Beast Czar of Dagestan.:bowdown:bowdown:bowdown :bowdown

Lecrosnier hit him with some bombs, that must be a cause for concern. Except Beterbiev did not seem to mind. If Beterbiev has punch resistance to rival his power, he will give the division fits. Although 175 could be a tough weight cut for him. The guy looks big for that weight.

He lost to Usyk twice in the amateurs as a Heavyweight. One of which was at the 2012 Olympics.

I think he was just focusing too much on getting the stoppage. Once his corner had a word with him (told him off essentially) he settled down a bit, but he can't be getting careless like that against any of the top guys in the division.

The Cloud fight in a coupla weeks should be a decent test. I'm expecting Artur to win, but assuming he does, the manner of his victory should be telling.

Tavoris might not be particularly good, and can be outboxed, but he's still tough and can punch a bit himself. If Beterbiev can outbox Cloud comprehensively and especially if he can stop him either quicker or more impressively than Stevenson it'll send a real statement.

He seems a little easy to hit.

Thats fine for the level hes been fighting at, but when he steps up to world class, its going to be an issue

We'll see in a coupla weeks when he fights Tavoris (assuming you still consider Cloud 'world class' having basically had the snot beaten out of him against his last 3 opponents) - but I agree, his defense still needs more attention.

Beterbiev's a heavy handed beast for sure, but that won't, in itself, be enough for the top flight.

No doubt! Plus: The only reason Cloud retired against Stevenson was due to an eye injury.

    My favourite Beterbiev KO.

    7:41 mark

    [yt]dB_NFPdtxpI[/yt]

Found this recent interview with his trainer Marc Ramsay the other day. The translation is a little hard to follow in parts but he mentions the fight(s) against Kovalev in the amateurs. I wonder if they've seen it? If so, obviously that means there's footage of it. Hopefully one day we'll get to see it if there is.

At the last press conference GYM coach Artur Beterbiev, Marc Ramsay gave us his impressions on the most important test of the career of his protégé. Indeed, Beterbiev will prove his worth against former Light Heavyweight champion of the IBF, Tavoris "Thunder" Cloud.

Marc Ramsay's reputation is second to none. Having coached athletes such as Jean Pascal, David Lemieux, Antonin Decarie and many others, Ramsay leads to battle a boxer with little experience professional, but an excellent amateur career and also the determination of a lion.

The Main Fight: Hi Mark! How are you?

Marc Ramsay: Thank you. We are still preparing for Sept. 27.

TMF: Recently, Vasyl Lomachenko (2-1-0, 1 ko) laid hands on a major title with little experience in the pros, but many among fans, including two Olympic gold medals and 396 victories and one loss.

In 1978, Leon Spinks managed a similar feat against the legendary Muhammad Ali with only six wins and a tie among professionals. However, Spinks won a gold medal in Montreal in 1976 and ended his amateur career with 178 wins and 7 losses.

Do you have these exploits motivated to accept this challenge?

MR: I'll confess that I'm a fan this release. IT is not to be pressed in this case. I enter this challenge because I am comfortable with my boxer, I know he is ready for this kind of fight. I made that I see at the gym, how do I measure their abilities and strength.

TMF: The question that burns the lips of many; Beterbiev is ready?

MR: He's ready. IL this is not fair to say he has 5 fights and we'll try something historic, not at all. For Lomachenko, I found a world title fight in his first pro, it was too fast.

Everything a boxer could lead to a young person who comes out of the amateur ranks, Orlando Salido brought it, which has affected the Ukrainian. There is talk of holding without breaking the rules, small nudges and all the other details. Lomachenko was based heavily on the skills and not physical force.

Like I said, I'm not a fan to go fast in a boxing career. I love when I have a good discussion and I am sure we can win a fight. This is the case now with Artur. He has a very physical strength.

TMF: The ability to collect shots from a solid hitter like Cloud has never been tested at Artur. Do you fear a bad reaction on his part when it will happen?

MR: Cloud is going to get hit back, that's what will happen. It is true that the fans have not seen her take shots. But we follow him for a long time and was observed when exchanged with elite amateur boxers as Oleksandr Usyk and Sergey Kovalev.

From the professional point of view, Beterbiev is comfortable with boxers such as Jean Pascal in his sparring sessions. Artur responded well to that type of training.

TMF: What are your impressions on Tavoris Cloud?

MR: I think Beterbiev is more comprehensive than a guy like Cloud. I find it a bit one-dimensional continuously trying its rear right hand. It remains extremely dangerous and aggressive. We'll get to her out of her comfort zone and you'll see how September 27.

    TMF: Thank you Marc.

    MR: It's a pleasure.

CST80 is becoming one of my very fave posters very quickly, posting all of the rising stars that I'm interested in.

Judging by his fight against Lecrosnier, Artur doesn't seem to know how to point score in a pro way although his style relates very well to pros (a similar problem Lomachenko had during the Ramirez and Salido fight) and Artur can go a long way learning some dirty tactics.

Thanks, Serge. From the sounds of it, Beterbiev handled Pascal well in sparring.
