Usyk looked far more uncomfortable being in the ring with Beterbiev than vice versa. I thought Beterbiev did enough to win their second fight. In those fights Beterbiev was the punishing stalker, Usyk was the guy trying to potshot and run. I know which guy I'd want to be over 12 rounds.

BN: Oleksandr, you won most everything as an amateur, including the gold at the 2012 Olympics. Who would you say gave you your hardest fight as an amateur?

Oleksandr Usyk: “Well, all those fights, they all took place within the last couple of years or so, so it’s hard to say. Maybe, if I was pushed to say, it was Artur Beterbiev of Russia who gave me my roughest fight. He is very aggressive and he does hit very hard.”

With only seven fights under his belt, Artur Beterbiev has already made a name in the world of boxing and is considered one of the best heavyweight in the world.

But while he was heading to a clash against former WBA champion Gabriel Campillo, Montrealer of Russian origin left the training camp Jean Pascal in California to return to Quebec, a dramatic gesture which has been much ink.

Promoter Yvon Michel has categorically refuted the allegations that he was at loggerheads with his protégé, saying instead that he had an important decision to make for the rest of his career or not join the ranks of the adviser team Al Haymon.

"Artur is with manager (Anna Reva) very intelligent, but has not much experience, said Michael, Friday afternoon on the sidelines of the press conference to formalize the presentation of the fight between Adonis Stevenson and Sakio Bika April 4 in Quebec.

"She wants to understand and that is precisely what we do: we explain the opportunities. And no matter the direction Artur will take, we will support it completely. It will be the gala April 4. Only remains to determine which platform. »

Not surprisingly, the promoter fervently hope that Bertebiev joins the influential adviser, who bought several hundred million US $ airtime on various US networks to restore its former glory in boxing. Those who turn their backs today could well see their rise to the highest levels be slowed.

"I recommend to all my boxers to go with Haymon, admits frankly Michel. Premier Boxing Champions Series is reserved for its boxers and boxing if Artur it, he will rise from anonymity to s****om in one go. This is a direction to take, but not a requirement.

"If ever Artur decided not to sign, we would like with Jean Pascal and Adonis: that is to say that we would take the time to bring them up in various world rankings to eventually force a champion to fight with him. In the series, champions can defend their title against contender without a problem

We proposed to Al Haymon d incorporate [that is to say, to become the advisor of] Artur Beterbiev for it to have access to the networks of its seven Premier Boxing Champions series. It is a condition to be part of the series, although there will be some exceptions to the mandatory aspiring champions associated with Haymon, for example.

It is not still tuned with Artur, but today's meeting was very positive, very cordial, and we must meet again tomorrow. I do not see what could be the problem that would prevent the thing is done because Artur wants the fight against Campillo.

There is no friction with Anna Reva. We got the wind normally is welcoming. We negotiate and talk. The longest discussion was not focused on the terms of the agreement with Al Haymon. She wanted us to renegotiate the terms of our contract with us to raise our current contract minimums, as we will make more money, and we accepted. There really is no "renegotiations" because there was no agreement, it was a project. It was just a little longer to resolve than expected

I think some cruiserweights and light heavyweights like Usyk and Beterbiev could move up to heavyweight and have success comparable to Sultan Ibragimov had. In fact, they most likely would have more success than Ibragimov, Klitschko is aging and I think there's a trend to mistakenly believe that every 6'7" heavyweight can fight as well as Klitschko. Fact is, the younger titan-sized heavyweights, physically similar to Klitschko--even bigger, are not as athletic, powerful or technically sound as Klitschko. A smaller opponent has a better chance of beating them.

Haymon has nothing at LHW aside from that coward Adonis and none of the strong future talent is with him either.

Exclusive - Contract negotiations last hours resulted in optimal conditions for Russian boxer and Montreal adoption Artur Beterbiev. Following his career is promising.

An official announcement to this effect will be made Monday or Tuesday. Beterbiev (7-0-0, 7 KOs) has already resumed training in preparation for the battle that will pit the Spanish southpaw Gabriel Campillo (25-6-1, 12 KOs ).

The fight will be presented in support of the final between Adonis Stevenson and Australian orgine Cameroonian Sakio Bika, on April 4 at the Pepsi Coliseum in Québec.

According to reports, the clan Beterbiev has firm commitments to enable it to deliver four fights a year guaranteeing a minimum annual income of $ 2 million over the next three years.

Originally, GYM and Al Haymon filed a binding offer and much more for a period of five years, which is allowed in the United States and current in contracts written by the American promoter.

The agreement includes the sharing of revenues for the benefit of 29 years boxer. This should enable him to prepare his fights with peace of mind while having ensured the financial security of his wife and three children.

Beterbiev plans to increase the pace aware of the coming week. It will also access to partners left what was curiously not the case when it slammed the Big Bear camp gate in California earlier this week.

    Solid

It is interposed by lawyers that Groupe Yvon Michel, the American promoter Al Haymon and manager of Beterbiev, Anna Reva, have agreed on the terms of a new revised pact three years.

Basically, the duration of the contract between a boxer and his agent may not exceed three years, as stipulated by the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux.

"This will be an excellent contract for Artur. We have made significant gains in terms of sharing control and decision making, financial guarantees and the intentions of Mr. Haymon regarding his career, "said Anna Reva, reached by telephone by CBC Sports.

Importantly, Beterbiev have control over the choice of his next opponents.

"We want to face quality boxers to access a title fight as soon as possible world," insisted Mrs. Reva.

She mentioned the name of Lucian Bute, except that it is not certain that the latter, who has not boxed for over 13 months, wants to remain at light heavyweight.

Although the base of his supporters is in Quebec, it is likely that Beterbiev can deliver some of his future fights on American soil.

Some quotes from Beterbiev's training session the other day

"The journalists won't be happy since I did not KO anybody today," laughed Beterbiev after a public training session today in Quebec City, He demonstrated his skills with his sparring partners, Englishman Bob Ajisafe and Australian Blake Caparello.

"I really think it will be a short night for Campillo," Caparello said after sparring Beterbiev. "This guy has some incredible brute force. He could even chase and hunt down a strong Sergey Kovalev in the ring,"

    From another article

Artur Beterbiev was in Quebec City on Thursday in preparation for his clash April 4 against Spain's Gabriel Campillo.

Winner of seven fights by knockout, the amateur world champion in 2009 and 7th aspiring to the WBC belt continues to move up. "Even if one believes Artur is ready to face the best boxers in its class, including Sergey Kovalev I am convinced he can beat, it's that it can continue to grow normally, said the coach Marc Ramsey. He will have the opportunity to fight for the cameras of CBS and all the opportunities will be there after this fight. "

Ramsey does not underestimate Campillo has already been world champion.

"It's a good opponent, a guy who is tough, he said. It's a good challenge for Artur. Campillo has a lot of experience and there are many details that we can find to watch the boxers. "

Still hesitant English, Beterbiev gave his first interview in the language of Shakespeare. "I'm ready," commented the champion of the NABF.

"I can beat him, adding Beterbiev when asked about Kovalev. I thought Jean Pascal would win the fight against Kovalev 12 round. "

Left and second aspirant to the IBF belt for 175 pounds, Campillo has a 25-6-1 record and has participated in four world title fights, two victories.

A victory would allow him to Beterbiev steal second place Campillo and hope to get a fight against the first contender in the coming months.
