I would say he's already a contender, based upon the fact that he completely eviscerated someone who was still rated in the Top 10. He may well hold a world title within the next twelve months, at the rate he's progressing.

Which world title would he win though being Hopkins holds 2, Stevenson and Kovalev hold one a piece?

We know for sure Stevenson will go nowhere near him, and the Kovalev- Hopkins winner would look toward Stevenson, rather than Beterbiev.

I think his handlers are going to fast-track him to a world title shot as soon as possible. I think they'd probably stick him in against any of the current champs at LHW right now if they could.

Personally I'd still like to see him garner a little more experience against more top ten rated opposition, especially against someone who can take him rounds and test his stamina. I'm not sure how many guys there out there in who can do that though. I would've picked Cloud to be one of the most likely candidates before last night and he barely lasted past 3 minutes.

Beterbiev is apparently Chechen Muslim. He represents Russia (soon to be Canadian?) but I'm guessing he's not that keen on the nation.

He wants to represent Canada at the next Olympics, not sure what his feelings on Russia are though.

'Recently, Artur Beterbiev made the surprising announcement of a return to competition in the amateur ranks, who had his mark from 2006 to 2012 because Beterbiev won gold at the World Amateur Championships in Milan, Italy in 2009 and participated in the 2008 Olympic and 2012, unfortunately without winning a medal. It is this lack that motivates him to head to Rio De Janeiro in 2016, despite his four wins by knockout pro.

During his amateur career, the Russian rocket holds victories over Michael Hunter Jr., Ismayl Sillakh, the Cuban Ynnier Dorticos (18-0-0, 17 ko's in the pros)

The South African Thabiso Mchunu (16-1-0, 11 ko's in the pros), Irishman Kenneth Egan, a silver medalist in Beijing in 2008, the Uzbek Abbos Atoev, bronze medalist in London in 2012 and of course, the champion of the WBO heavyweight and current compatriot Sergey Kovalev (24-0-1, 22 ko's).

On two occasions, Artur bowed honorably opposite the London gold medalist in 2012, the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, a future force in the Light Heavy division.

This time, Artur carry the colors of Canada, to thank the people here for their hospitality and support.

The Main Fight had the opportunity to chat with Artur in his future endeavors.

The Main Fight: Hello Artur! Why return among fans despite your professional debut?

Artur Beterbiev: I tried twice to get their hands on an Olympic medal. I passed by, but I'm not happened. That's the only thing I have not accomplished among fans and I want to remedy that.

TMF: Is it a lack of satisfaction in your career in the pros you want to go back to the amateurs?

AB: No, it really is in order to get the gold medal while representing Canada. You know, the people here have welcomed me, so I want to thank them for that. Also, I can go back to the amateur ranks before the 15 fights among professionals. I am very satisfied with what I am about to undertake in the pros, but I also want this medal by personal gratification.

I am ambitious! I would have time to win a title in the pros after that.

TMF: What is your trainer, Marc Ramsay thinks of your decision?

    AB: It supports me 100%.

TMF: What can you tell us about Alvaro Enriquez (12-12-2, 4 ko's), your next opponent from 22 August to Mont-Saint-Hilaire?

AB: I'm ready for the fight. I can not wait to go back in the ring and give a good show for the fans. Enriquez has a lot of experience, he fought good fighters like Adonis Stevenson, Shawn Estrada and Eleider Alvarez.

TMF: Does it would be after your fight against Enriquez begin your approach?

AB: We have not yet begun procedures. I'm really focused on Enriquez at the moment and we will see for the future.

TMF: You have 29 years. Do you have time to accomplish all of your goals, both amateur and professional?

AB: Absolutely! Everything depends on the will of a person and I have a lot. I'm still young, I train hard and seriously to achieve my dreams.'

If he starts getting big fights against the likes of Kovalev or Stevenson, Im thinking he may backtrack on going back to Olympic style fighting.

Surely he would still have to "qualify" for the olympics and as such have to take quite a bit of time out from his career.

Maybe he is, but I just think that when 7 figure offers(oe something close) come in to fight Kovalev or Stevenson, the Gold medal mighnt seem so alluring

He definitely seems serious now. If he actually does go on to do it, however, is a different matter. He wants to do both, gold medal and world titles. We'll see what happens.

Any word on his next fight

Cloud only lasted 1 round and 1 minute. And Artur barely took any damage it seems as though he could be back in action for his 7th fight as soon they can get him another opponent. Kinda almost a waste of a training camp to train for a 12 round fight and then for dat to happen
