thanks for the info, good to hear he's world level. That does not look like Mehdi Amar.... If it's him he's gained flubber, doesn't look very fit. No disrespect, very seasoned pro.
I think @POTUS is hoping Beterbiev has taken this fight lightly lol Trust me bro, Gvozdyk is going to be seeing the Northern Lights at some point during the fight
From the left to right: https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/470119 https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/248270 Artur https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/545460 https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/740621 Pretty good sparring partners.
Decent Sparring except AB's team probably paid a lower rate to Amar because he looks out of fighting shape. At the same time he did go the distance with Gvozdyk, so any bit to help raise AB's confidence. Now Gvozdyk on the other hand, he's getting the better quality of sparring. Not knocking AB's hustle, I'm glad he's getting work in with some solid prospects.
I had a chance to meet Beterbiev's two trainers last year in Chicago: Marc Ramsy and John Scully. They both told me that Artur's discipline is something special and they haven't worked with any boxer with the same discipline. I don't think that Beterbiev is not training properly. I believe that he is one of the most dedicated and disciplined boxer nowadays.
He trains like a spartan. He always has. “Arthur is very consistent,” Scully continued. “He’s the type of guy who prides himself on being professional and he keeps in shape even when there’s no fight coming up. I always tell people – and you only run into a few of these guys – his head trainer Marc could leave him alone for a month and Arthur would be in the same condition, the same weight and everything else. You don’t have to worry about him, following him up or him slipping. That just wouldn’t happen, so it’s easy to train a guy like that.”
I never said that, I never said that at all..... Joking!! Either reply to this or pm the link!!! Lucky shot, well bet again
is it really that common for boxers to not train outside of camps? i was a sprinter and there's no way in hell we could stop training for even a week without losing fitness. some might take a week long break at the end of the season, but other than that, the off days are the necessary recovery days. i know the two sports a very different, but these are professionals, and it seems extremely unprofessional to just sit back doing **** all physically until a new fight comes up. come to think of it, no wonder so many of these guys claim walking weights 10 - 20lbs over their fight night weights.
Some are in the gym 5 or 6 days a week and train all year round, and some only train when they're in camp. I'm sure many of those who don't train all year round still keep fairly active and do light training when they're out of camp though and that the gym rats do take a few weeks off after they've fought. But I'm sure there's probably many who only train when they've got a fight coming up and spend the rest of their time enjoying their food and lazing about.
