I think people are way too quick to say he beats Kovalev..

I understand making him a favorite, but if he can get dropped by far lesser guys, Kovalev can seal the deal…

Kovalev clearly went off the rails mentally around the 2nd Ward fight. Before that it was hard to imagine him losing a fight.

Maybe he was just a front runner? Many of these leading guys are....

...and when their confidence bursts they can never regain the same motivation or enthusiasm they once doubt because they are filled with so much self-doubt.......

Prime Kovalev smokes him IMO, Kovalev in his prime was superb

And nobody will say that Usyk is too old for that, since Beterbiev is older and smaller

Had Beterbiev turned pro at 20 or in his early 20s as opposed to 28.5 y/o he would've gone down as one of the LHW greats

Look at what he's achieved turning pro at 28.5 y/o despite many long spells of inactivity due to injuries, promotional disputes etc.

Ward retired at 32-33 y/o when the division was on fire because he knew there was no way he could beat Beterbiev, Bivol and Gvozdyk legitimately and that the stain on his reputation would've been too much had his obligatory home refs and three home judges robbed them like they did Kovalev

Beterbiev would've beat the soul out of Ward's body and left him in a quivering bloody semi-conscious heap on the canvas. And I mean even on Ward's heavily stacked deck where his ref would've allowed him to hold, billy goat butt, elbow, duck low etc. like crazy. Good luck trying that with Beterbiev.

Absolutely terrible style match up for Ward. He can't hurt Beterbiev. He can't keep him off of him for 12 rounds. Beterbiev is much stronger than him. Much more powerful. Better chin. He tries to octopus grab Beterbiev he gets rag-dolled and clumped around the head with very heavy short distance shots which will scramble his brains. He tries ducking low he walks into massive uppercuts or gets cracked on the back of the head.

Beterbiev doesn't have a six round tank like the Kovalev he fought who trained on vodka. Beterbiev lives and trains like a Spartan and he can maintain a very high pace from first to last bell without gassing. And Ward's dirty tactics and cheating will not work on Beterbiev at all.

Clenelo wanted zero to do with Beterbiev too because he knew it would result in the first stoppage loss of his career

As for Beterbiev vs Kovalev. If they fought three times I don't think either would go 3-0. Prime Kovalev was a savage punching monster too and that power of his and rangy elite level boxing skills would've posed great threat to Beterbiev too. I'd favour Beterbiev 2-1 but let's not forget how good and scary powerful prime Krusher was too.
