I think doesn't matters is this exactly Beterbiev or some other top LHW boxer. These in modern era are pretty athletic huge dudes. While decades ago 185-190-193 lbers had been considered enough large for CW, now such specimens are small for this division and usually trims down till 175 lbs limit. Of course Hopkins is very highly skilled boxer but he was not LHW boxer per se. Like even Ward who almost all his career was SMW boxer had this Kovalev. Kovalev, while being enough large for LHW and hard hitting, skilled boxer even in his prime didn't looked the most athletic LHW boxer at all. I think even more than 5 enough well known LHW boxers are considerably more athletic than prime Kovalev was. These are very athletic dudes, most likely too athletic even for specimens like prime shape Kovalev.
Another thing people seem to be forgetting is that Artur is a huge Light Heavyweight. In fact, he mostly fought at heavyweight in the amateurs and had probably the highest KO ratio in the ams. He knocked Usyk down with a body shot and Usyk often talks about how hard Artur hits. You can't compare his power to what Hopkins is used too imo.
Height-wise no, weight-wise, I would have to disagree. If he fought at heavyweight in the AM where fighters naturally slim down the most they can, it means he was 200 pounds. That's 25 solid pounds he is cutting.
He said he walks around at 86kg If he stopped being a gym rat he could probably put on another 10kg but I think he would still be a very small Cruiserweight.
Actually he is. Chechens are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group. Hence the name "Caucasian" which is more or less synonymous with WHITE.
People from the Caucus are varied in their appearance. If you look at someone like Khabib or Beterbiev, you could easily confuse them with some ethnic groups from Afghanistan. You also have Eastern European looking "white" people, similar to Bosnians there too.
These top level LHW pro boxers for real hits damn hard and are strong for their size. Usyk for example had been pushed down by simple push in the ring vs the same prime Briedis version. And yeah, this fight was so damn close that in case if Briedis promoter was bob, eddie or Kalle&Co then, Usyk even had lost this fight on the judges cards with little doubt here. Usyk is beautiful lad and good, despite now he is aging boxer. If he had fought in country where Usyk had been hated, he had get dirtyboxe lesson from the same prime Briedis and had been finished in distance there. The difference between LHW boxing and called in forums as puny CW division that he ( Usyk ) had in the ring 2 boxers who did had not less effective punching power if they had landed normally than Povetkin in his real prime and he had won these both fights, despite yeah, vs Briedis really barely regardless from comments and fans opinions, he barely had won this one. I don't know Beterbiev weight walking around. Why they can't be europeans, while a lot of them are Roman Catholic belief and are looking more white than Swiss born ppl? Cos they should be judged from their passport not cos their soul and thinking just by using so called separation flowcharts while a lot of them are with the same belief as people in Sweden, U.K or Italy or France, just be proud to judge and use flowcharts. Even orthodox christian belief is so close to old western european chatolic christians and not so much difference there.
The question here should really be "How long before Hopkins looks for a way out." I give it to the middle rounds for him jumping his acting routine and try to milk a highly questionable DQ or TD out of it.
Interesting, I'm not sure I believe him though. It seems like a stretch to fight slimmed down at 200 pounds in the amateurs and then walk around at 190 in the pros. He could be lying since a lot of guys don't want to be seen as weight bullies.
I don't know Beterbiev weight usually walking around. 2 from LHW boxers I had dealt with were like this: one was 190 lber, another 188 lbs dude. Since training camp and tailored dieting they did had low fat % and there wasn't this 15 lbs fe as water cut. Like for one guy approx 5 lbs difference between weight in and weight in the ring while 3 months before fight he was 190 lber on scales. Like this.
