Though Smith has really come into his own lately you'd ave to go Beterbiev. Freak athlete. Rises to the occasion too and I think current Smith would bring out the best in him. World class versus elite this one imo..
Cause that's the referee's job Still I agree with you, with Smith's power there's always a decent chance he can spark him out.
I agree. I don't want to see Beterbiev put a beating on Smith.. Smith vs. Johnson is an ultra competitive match and a good clash of styles. After Beterbiev smashes Bivol and moves up to CW these two will have a chance to make their name.
Thats the one I'd like to see,, Beterbiev would necessarily be the consensus favorite but Joe's strength , pressure, and punching power would make this a fantastic fight. I'm biased because I want Joe to win but he has a real shot, I'd say Beterbiev is a 60-40 favorite, maybe more.
Smith keeps fighting like he does and he may crack the top ten hardest light-heavyweight punchers. Beterbeiv wins, though.
Smith is a very exciting fighter but he won't be able to use his massive power shots against Beterbiev; he loads up way too much IMO. If he tries throwing those massive rotating shots he will get tagged and knocked out early.
Beterbiev will unload on him, Smith wont be able to take it. Beterbiev will be on top of him throughout the encounter, Smith wont have any breathing room.
Smith is currently ranked 4 in the WBO, Alvarez is 3 so should jump him now. Above them are Salamov and Maslov and Id fancy Smith to beat both. Hopefully he can get a vacant shot at either of those and get a title win. Works out better long term as a fight with Beterbiev is bigger in a unification. Beterbiev still has a mandatory to see out as well so could time it nicley if they can get a shot next.
