Artur Beterbiev's Weaknesses

    I could see Kovalev becoming an ATG LHW. His relationship with JDJ, Don Turner, and even his promotional/management team is very, very sound. Compounded with his formidable skill-set, that should see him through.

    Agreed.

    As a certified Chin evaluator (and the first to identify James Kirkland as having poor punch resistance) I don't see any evidence of Beterbiev having the same shortcoming so far either. He was "pushed down" while his feet were out of position. The shot didn't connect on his head; it made contact at the neck/shoulder area. Counts as a knockdown solely because it was still the result from a punch being thrown. Balance had a lot to do with it, plus Page didn't even land solidly there.

    He's good at taking control of the opponents clinch, but he doesn't often create space to land shots of his own. When he does dictate movement within the clinch, he genuinely doesn't think often to dictate his opponent into his own punches on the inside, we don't see more than cupping punches usually. Mid-close range though, he's exceptional.

    Beterbiev does have a decent shot against anybody if he's ragdolling someone like he did Page Jr and Cloud, however Ward is in a different class when it comes to inside game.

    In terms of his abilities, I think Kovalev will go down as an ATG LHW, but he has stiff competition. It's going to be a historically great era within two years - Mekhontsev, Gvozdyk, Ward, Beterbiev being his rivals.

    And pointing to an amateur fight where a guy gets stunned and recovers is even worse lol. Every amateur fighter that has fought world class op has been stunned. You just haven't seen the footage lol...

    The gym has a way of making a fighter change a few things. Its up to his trainer and manager to hire the right sparring partners.

    Beterbiev is such a powerhouse its going to take a smooth opperator with b@lls of steel make him pay for mistakes. His chin is iron, and his body is comic book like in appearance.

    One intimidating dude if you ask me.

    I agree with this, and unlike some other top fighters, Kovalev seeks out the very best.
