Artur Szpilka vs. Mariusz Wach & Paweł Stępień vs. Dmitry Sukhotsky RBR.

Action picking up significantly in the fourth round. Wach stuns Szpilka first and Szpilka returns the favor. Wach seems to be gassing though, the rate at which he’s throwing his jab is significantly diminished. Rather than consistently jabbing, he’s saving his energy and unloading in 1-2 combos which are giving Szpilka some trouble. It seems like all the moving around the ring is gassing Szpilka too. Szpilka lands a solid counter with his back on the ropes but Wach is starting to really dictate the fight. However Szpilka lands a solid hook at the end of the round. Probably Wach’s round, and I’d probably score it 3-1 to Wach so far but any range from 4-0 Wach to 3-1 Szpilka could be possible if you’re being generous to the latter

 

This is a thrilling fight. Every moment I just expect Szpilka's chin to dissipate into thin air. Big Mariusz clearly looking for that big KO punch.

 

Wach corners Szpilka to start the fifth, but Szpilka gets out of it and he’s now bringing the fight to Wach. He’s starting to back up Wach for the first time in the fight. Wach is trying to reassert the generalship he hadn’t in the first four rounds but he’s getting his head jabbed off everytime he gets close. Wach looks like he has nothing left in his gas tank, his work rate has dropped to almost nothing. But he cracks Szpilka with a solid hook and forces him to to retreat to the corner. Szpilka is able to recover and throw one of his own but Wach may have stolen that round at the end

 

This is a phenomenal fight so far lol I would’ve never expected this. Wach is showing an unbelievable amount of heart

 

Wach’s work rate has picked back up, and Szpilka is starting to get hit with a high volume of punches. He’s also starting to posture and showboat quite a bit, but it’s not working out for him at all and as he’s starting to get hit pretty clean by Wach. There’s moments where Szpilka looks ready to go, but then he spins off the ropes and does some more posturing. He’s not fighting intelligently at all

 

There goes Szpilka laying on the ropes, drops his hands and tries to be slick...

 

Szpilka got a bit more purposeful and threw more punches in the 7th, I think you could probably edge that round to him. I probably have it somewhere around 4-3 Wach, haven’t been scoring it too closely. Could see it being 4-3 Szpilka or 5-2 Wach as well honestly

 

Wach’s shots have lost a lot of steam and his moments of success have been limited to a few instances where he was able to get Szpilka with his back against the ropes. Szpilka’s work rate was higher that round and I’d say it was clearly his. Two rounds left

 

Haven't scored it but I'd probably have Szpilka winning.

 

Wach came out hungry and picked his work rate up significantly compared to the past two rounds. Szpilka still had his moments, but it was more back and forth. Tougher round to score but Szpilka probably took it.

 

Wach rushes at Szpilka to start the tenth and he’s giving it everything he has left to take this round. Szpilka is back to controlling the fight with his jab but Szpilka lands the best punch of the round with a solid straight counter punch. Wach cracks Szpilka and Szpilka is sent tumbling down! Szpilka seems like he has absolutely nothing left. He’s back up and trying his hardest to survive the round but he gets rocked again. Szpilka makes it out the round but that knockdown probably won Wach the fight.

Holy **** what a ****ing fight lol. I’d probably score it 95-94 Wach

 

That seriously may have been the heavyweight fight of the year

 

Szpilka gets a split decision win, by resllt sure what the scores were since they were read in Polish but I wouldn’t have too much of a problem with it if they’re both 95-94. Seems a bit harsh for Wach though, and he seems a bit disheartened by the decision

 

People tried getting into the ring to beat up Artur!
