Artur Szpilka vs. Mariusz Wach 10 Rounds @ Heavyweight

 

Round 1 Szpilka 10-9

Wach comes out with a little pep in his step and is aggressively walking Artur down, trying to establish his jab, Artur is parrying it and countering over it with a jab of his own, he landed something late that seemed to rattle Wach a little.

Closer than the first, Wach trapped Artur along the ropes once or twice, and nailed him with rights, but he slipped out of the side door, Artur peppered him with a jab almost non stop, rolled with most of Wach's, they both stung each other once or twice with flush shots.

Another close one, but Wach's jab is barely landing and Artur is taking the steam off of Wach's rights to the body and head by moving just out of range, but most of Artur's straight lefts are connecting flush and are seeming to have an effect.

Damn entertaining round, Wach very aggressive throughout, nailing Artur with several hard straight rights, and just when I lean towards giving Wach the round, Szpilka comes back with straight left uppercuts, right hook/straight right combos to move it back in his direction, and Artur is like a metronome with his jab, its omnipresent.

Wach's best round, he pressed the action, cornered Szpilka a few times, and landed thudding bear paw like shots to teh body and a few straight rights to the head, Artur still outworked him and landed a ice uppercuts and straight lefts, but Wach's power shots were a little more substantive.

Szpilka seemed to take that round off, he mugged every time Wach hit him and walked to the ropes allowing Wach to tee off on him, giving him enough movement for nothing to land too flush, but enough got through to give the round to Wach.

Fairly solid round for Artur, he seemed to get rocked midway through by some flush rights Wach landed, but the rest of the round Artur landed on Wach in combination and outworked him big time.

 

Wach is remarkably fast and agile in this fight, he's cutting off the ring very well, I hope he didn't take any type of banned supplement beforehand. Hmmm.

Artur getting brave now, he's sitting down on his shots, standing in front of Wach, who's less mobile this round, and teeing off in combination. That was probably Artur's best round.

Artur boxed Wach's ears off for the majority of the round, then got lazy in the last minute, and Wach took over, and would have won it, had more of his punches landed flush, but Artur rolled with or blocked many of them.
