Artur "The Steamroller" Beterbiev vs "Marvelous" Martin Hagler

Beterbiev tosses Golovkin like a kid brother.

 

This. Hagler is too small. P4P Hearns punches harder than Gvozdyk, but you see unlike Hearns Gvozdyk actually has a pair of legs. 6'2" Gvozydk would have pepper Hagler until he could no longer even lift his arm. Hed punch his shoulders, chest and arms until Hagler was weak as kitten. And people want to think about Hagler fighting Beterbiev???

Artur has beaten guys who would gobble up Hagler like cheerios.

 

Regardless of whether Beterbiev might me too big for Hagler, calling Marvin "weak as a kitten" is beyond ignorant. Hagler had elite mental and physical strength. And, he is a superior boxer to Artur. And, it isn't like Beterbiev can't be hurt. Lesser men than Hagler have dropped (and hurt) Beterbiev. Beterbiev has good power. But, his defense is a bit suspect. And, I don't think he would find Hagler so easy to hit.

 

When a 175 pound man repeatedly bangs on a natural 154 pound man like Hagler then yes he will become "weak as a kitten".

 

This is a boxing match, not a wrestling match. Marvin's defense and boxing ability is light years beyond anyone Beterbiev has fought. He would find it very difficult to land on Marvin. And, in spite of his amateur background, Beterbiev has only 15 pro fights in a career of almost 8 years! Mostly against middling opposition. The experience factor is very much in Marvin's favor. This would be a tough assignment for Artur.

 

Artur doesnt have to land clean. By the 8th round Haglers chest and shoulders will be ready to shatter.

 

At 160 pounds, Marvin was never even dented, much less broken. I wouldn't be so sure that 15 pounds makes so much difference. The speed and skill differential would even out the size quite a bit. And, I think you underestimate Marvin's ability to catch and hurt the incredibly predictable onrushing Beterbiev.

 

He was stunned fairly bad against 154 pounder Hearns. A guy who was walking on stilts did this to him. Hes not indestructible. No man is. Especially against significantly bigger men.

 

I agree to some extent. (And, understand that I like Beterbiev, a lot). I just see flaws in Beterbiev. And Hagler is a true all time great.

 

I agree. There can be no doubt when looking at the totality of Haglers career he has left a greater legacy than Beterbiev. That being said Artur nails him to the canvas like Jesus.

Lesser people than Beterbiev did not find it hard to connect on Hagler.

 

Beterbiev is the most overrated fighter in boxing hes lucky that clenelo doesnt have the cojones to face cause if he did he would make Beterbiev look like **** and expose his one dimensional ass.

As for Hagler vs Beterbiev the difference in size isnt as big as the difference in talent.

Marvin would beat the **** out of Beterbiev.

 

Lol. This isnt the Welterweight or even Middleweight division. World class LightHeavyweight boxing is absurdly violent and physical.

 

This would be at some kinda catchweight surely? Let's be real, a ring legend like Hagler isn't gonna make all the concessions as the massive A-side in this match-up. Let's say it's at 170 - then Hagler would be my favourite. Setting up this fantasy fight and making it at LHW is simply a crude way of dissing a legend and bigging-up a current fighter who is in his mid-30s with an already underwhelming career currently stagnating...
