Not only is Brazil corrupt as many have mentioned already, but it is also one of the three worst countries in the world as far as murder rates go, alongside Jamaica and South Africa. Murder is quite common there. I'll never understand how the hell anybody came to the conclusion that it was a suicide, except that maybe somebody was paid off.
Good question? what could someone do for hours that would make you not aware of whats going on around you? almost like your in dreamland? almost like your in bed with your eyes closed? I can't figure it out:huh
I had to bring this back up after reading the countless posts after the HBO doc. the other night. It's amazing how many people in here want to blame the battered wife that Gatti abused on a regular basis. Some people though believe what they want to believe despite the evidence. The Andre Dirrell nonbelievers also reminded me of this post!
They said it was consistent with a suicide, but that there was insufficient information to make a proper ruling because a number of things were missing (like a toxicity test, etc.).
Iv never fully believed that it was a suicide. Personally i think he was murdered. R.I.P arturro u legend.
The OP can't use facts that don't exist, just like those who think it was murder can't either. The investigation was horribly botched, so it looks like neither side will have any definitive answer. To dispute the question eariler about how could Amanda not know he was dead, and the OP was eluding to her being asleep...she herself said she went downstairs in the morning to make a bottle and saw him laying there and assumed he was passed out. If you look at the crime scene photos he has a very large pool of blood around his head, something that should be hard to miss. The thing that bothered me the most was the Brazilian inverstigators response to the question of did they consider her recently placement as the sole benifactor to his estate as motive, and he completely dismissed it. Whenever a death is considered murder, the first thing a investigator will look for is motive and who would benefit from the persons death. They also assumed that Amanda knew no one in Brazil (which is false, and also ignores the fact that she could have had someone meet her in Brazil), and that no one could have entered the room except Gatti and Amanda, but did no investiation into either. Add in no tox screen, and their well reported trubualnt marriage and the whole thing seems fishy. So in the end there is now way to officially know what happened that night, and both sides could have compelling arguements. But all of these open ended questions beg to be debated and considered. It's not cut or dry on either side of the case. So to compare those who call in question what happened 'conspiracy theorists' is asinine. Now....notice how I did all of this without using any arguement referring to Gatti being a warrior or never quitting.
Your acting like a conspiracy theory has never been proved right ever! 3 questions.............. why were the marks around his neck not consistent with the size of the purse strap? How does she step over him in a confined space and not notice the pool of blood he is in, hell you can see from the documentary that he is in a pool of blood, and thats before!! the camera pans in to get a closer look, she would of had to step over him in that confined space. Last and most important question, why was she arrested in the first place if she was innocent? because she still cant explain away why she did not notice that pool of blood he was in, and that is why she was held for so long in the first place, so whats changed ? As for motive you can take you pick, her getting a beating from Gatti, him changing his will weeks before.
i am one who firmly believes that amanda staged his suicide, also without referring to warrior comments and never quitting, because of all the things she did, leading up to his arrival in Brazil. one example, of many: Arturo was supposed to go to his sister's wedding on july 11. now mind you, this is the sister, from which i've read, is dearest to him. if you're married to someone, you would think that the correct thing for any spouse to do is make an effort to attend such an important function, but not in amanda's case. these are one of those things that i would love to see her reaction if ever asked by a reporter. another question that would be interesting to witness is if she were asked, what caused the fight that deteriorated the night he died? Rayray when you use the justice scale on this case, there are too many things that would tip the scale over to the side indicating this was staged moreso than deeming the case suicide
just had to add one more thing... if you were to use amanda's excuse of "it was our second honeymoon...we were trying to work things out" to answer the point i was trying to make in regards to why they didn't attend Arturo's sister's wedding, i would believe it, if the family knew beforehand that's why he went to Brazil. that's not the case here. the family was perplexed as to why he totally dismissed this function. that is a statement that i feel she used to paint a certain picture that would add ammunition to her story.
I can't argue with any of that, and personally I also think it was murder. I was only trynig to make the point to the OP that he can't insult and dismiss people who think it was murder, just like we can't as easily dimiss those who may think it was a suicide. But all in all I think you're right.
