I know this is a hotly contested debate (regarding whether he deserves to be in), and although I would love to see him in, debating whether he should or not is fair.

I want to see him in because of the aura he brought with him to his fights, and the key word FAME.

Many of us have talked about this over and over, but since he's officially being looked at now I wanted to bring this back up.

Thoughts on the his entry into the HOF? Should he or shouldn't he?

Simple yes or no replies are welcome.

(Sorry if someone already did a thread on him being on the ballot)

Unlike other sports the boxings hall isn't just for the best of the best.

Gatti has been in what? 5 FOTY's? With another 3 or 4 fights that were contenders? And countless other good scraps and KO's.

Gatti made his mark on the sport and will NEVER be forgotten. How is that not hall of fame material?

It depends on what the hall of fame means to you

If it is purely about the greatest fighters being enshrined, then no Gatti shouldn't be there because he wasn't a great fighter

If it's about greatness, and impact on the sport, then yes of course Gatti should be there, because his whole career was a highlight reel that kept on giving.

In my opinion, it's about greatness, and impact on the sport and therefore I think Gatti should be enshrined in the Hall.

I'd put him in. It's a Hall of "Fame", not of ability or skill. Gatti's indominability and bravery are worth celebrating. Personally, I'm a "skills pay tha' bills" fan, a lover of slick defence and movement. But, I feel if you dismiss Gatti, you're telling 90% of boxing fans that their preferences are worthless.

This is exactly what my argument is when I say I think it's fair to call him HOF worthy.

Yes, it's not the hall of greatness. Gatti left his mark on boxing in a big way.

No. Every time we let a boxer in the hall of fame for being very famous it diminishes the meaning of the word "fame".

any unskilled B-fighter can be built up by HBO and turned into the next Gatti

can they do the same and make the next Pacquiao? Next Tyson? Next Ali? Next Hagler? Next JCC?

DAMN YOU FOOLS ARE ******ED...HALL OF FAME IS FOR THE GREATS

He should be in. He was a warrior who people will still be talking about in 2112. He may not have been the greatest fighter but the Hall of Fame isn't, and never has been, about ability alone.

He should be in no arguements

4 FOTY's tell me another guy who did that, if someone did they are in the HOF and probably an ATG

He fought all comers and held a title twice, he was throwback in style and nature and came to fight

he pleased his fans and took on all challengers and gave it his best, you never watched a Gatti fight and said damn if he had just laid it on the line more

Gatti is the definition of boxing and represents all that is great with our favorite sport
