i just wish arturo hadnt have lost to mayweather &/or baldomir when unification fights with ricky were verbal agreed to take place following those fights:-( ,definite foty no doubt:good

 

To Mayweather yes but I'm pretty sure that if he would have beaten Baldomir he would have went for Cotto

 

i heard they were gonna go into a unification with ricky who held the wba welterweight title at the time,cotto was still at 140 remember.:good

Gatti said before the fight that he would want a fight with Cotto and Merchant mentions this at the beggining:good

 

140 not Gatti's best weight....Hatton by K.O at around the 7th.

If I had my way it would've been a great battle, with both men cut, Gatti's chopping hits cutting Ricky and vicious blows really emssing Ricky up, who tries to box like he did against Ben Tackie.

Then Hatton goes into rage mode and Gatti is just like Billy Graham's body bag....Gatti takes a left-left combo to body and head before Buddy McGirt steps in.

Shame the fight never happened. Though Ricky-Cotto at 140 would've been great too. At 147 Cotto would win handily I think. But 140 is Hatton's domain and I think he could win it on points.

140,147,we are talking about gladiators here,the fight would have been great regardless.But at 140it would have been a killer:fire :yikes

 

But at the time Gatti was at 140, I think Cotto would handle him. Sure, Cotto was more susceptible to being hurt at 140, but I think his energy and persistance at the weight would've worn Gatti down, to a stoppage at around the 10th round.

 

:yep :good woulda been a classic regardless of weight.
