That's nice, but it's hardly the last great boxing trilogy. Barrera /Morales finished in 2004. I guess, if you wanted to, you could also say that Marquez vs Vazquez and Pacquiao vs Marquez were both great tetralogies; so we aren't counting them.
This! Barrera/Morales and Marquez/Vazquez were just as good as Ward/Gatti, and finished up or took place after. Ward vs Burton-Augustus was a better fight imo then all 3 Ward/Gatti fights that would have made for a excellent trilogy.
The Augustus fight was definitely better than Gatti-Ward II and maybe III but in no way, under any criteria, is it better than the first Gatti fight. As others have said, it certainly isn't the last great trilogy and there were also better ones beforehand, but it was still sensational and I'll be picking up the book.
Id say out of all the gret trilogies Gatti v Ward is somewhere near the bottom. The first fight was epic though.
