Locche all-day. Locche would beat Hatton, check out how well Locche blocks body shots, and see how Hatton seemed more and more seemingly unable to create things for his power shots against Mayweather, against Locche, let's just say, if Locche fought Hatton, Ricky would go right out and try and find one of them laser thingys from Men In Black that erases your memory.
Hatton is far too poor on the inside to deal with Locche, who had more than his share of crafty little inside tricks to go with his phenomenal defense. I do agree though that Locche's style, while pretty much perfected, is a bit too limited to have dealt with the very best at around 135-140.
That´s why he lost to Argentine journeymen like Laudonio, had draws with fighters with less than 10 fights, hometown- decisions against Laguna and an washed up Ortiz, woah, yeah, he´s unbeatable... to answer the thread- question, Gatti at 140 lbs didn´t have the power to hurt Locche, he would lose a lop-sided decision IMO (119-109)
Some people seems to forget, that Locche´s defense looks brilliant against fighters like Fuji (who had great one-punch-power, but nothing else), but against solid fighters like Henrique he didn´t look that great.
Gatti wasn't always that Bum who was slapped around by Mayweather. By the Mayweather fight Gatti was completely shot. In his prime Gatti was a good, fast give and take fighter. he might not have the skill to beat Loche, but he has the determination to at least give it a good fight & anything can happen in the ring, as you all know.
That makes no sense, some people see in Gatti a bum with some power and a great heart, they forget that Gatti wasn´t a 147 lbs or 140 lbs fighter, with Locche it´s the opposite, he was without a question a very good/ great fighter, but he wasn´t Whitaker-like, no way.
What I was trying to say is that to beat a prime Gatti. A fighter must be willing to go to War. A couple of years earlier at 135. Mayweather would have had his hands full, with Gatti.
Yes, I know what you mean, and I completely agree. I just wanted to say, that people underrate Gatti because they just seem to remember him at the higher weights...
