Do you guys think Arum makes the mosley-pac fight to pull him away from golden boy to give him a strategic edge in controling the marketshare?

    Ironic.

Bob Arum's cash cow was maxing out at ~400k PPV buys before his fight with *gasp* the Golden Boy. Now he's a superstar. DLH may not be the most savvy businessman but Bob Arum has made quite a bit of money off of him, both directly and indirectly. He should show some ****ing respect.

God you guys need to follow the boxing business. GBP has PPV events happening on 3 continents on some weekends while Arum and Dibella sit around talkin this kinda BS. GBP has dwarfed all these guys in revenue over the last 5 years and now all the other promoters are happy that the HBO cash cow is over for ODLH. So they can all hate. But one thing is guaranteed. Neither Arum,Dibella, Shaw, Duva or Don King will ever see that kinda sweetheart deal with HBO ever or in Don Kings case, ever again!!!

I just read on b-talk that Dela Hoya made a public statement apologizing to Arum, and that he'd ready to make big fights with Top Rank.

I 100% agree with Arum, Golden Boy Promotions are tanking. They suck at developing fighters -(Jacobs was a recent example, Bojado is another), and they were given major help by HBO (that's been brought up by a number of reporters). Dela Hoya is not a smart person, he's just a celebrity along the same lines as a Paris Hilton, no real talent anymore. Schaffer runs that company, and then you got guys like Hopkins who are only looking out for themselves. Hopkins was supposed to develope the east coast operations, he couldn't even develope his own nephew or Nazzim's son. I don't care if they lack the high level talent or not, look at what Ricky Hatton did with his brother! GBP suck, and they need to go away, they've been hurting the sport.

And those who think Arum owes anything to Dela Hoya, no way. Arum is the one who got Dela Hoya all those big fights. Oscar's a star mostly because of all the oppurtunities that he recieved first, second because he had the movie star looks. Think how much bigger Vernon Forrest or Kostya Tszyu would've been if they had gotten those same fight oppurtunities that Oscar had? And as for Pacquiao, Oscar was the one using Pacquiao. He seen that as another easy fight for him to cash in on his own name, then things backfired. Arum didn't even want to make that fight because he seen as loss-loss - his guy (Manny) gets beat, and his competitor (Oscar) moves on to more success.

Schaefer is a highly intelligent private banker, I'm sure he would have forecast any financial problems.

as for Arum, the **** is lucky to be where he is, if it weren't for Ali he would still be chasing ambulances.

I thought the soccer team was owned by IMG? I mean, IMG is the main stakeholder in GBP these days, but it's not the same company.

I wouldn't be surprised if The Ring is a loss leader. They can't be making much money.

All that said, I'd be surprised if they're operating in the red. Their core business seems to be doing pretty damn well, with at least three TV contracts and 3 - 4 major PPVs a year.
