Arum is full of crap. But you can see GBP getting weaker. Marquez, Hopkins, Hoya are getting old. Most of there young guns are not living up to hype other then Kahn. There other names Winky, Hatton are gone as well. Floyd seems to not be with GBP. I don't see them being as strong as they where when they started. Not to mention mosley jump ship. GBP still has a foot hold on 140 which should keep them alive. But i dont see there deal resigning

I tought top rank at one point was getting weaker. They still have Cotto, Manny, Lopez, donaire, gomboa and chavez jr. His guys like Rios, Soto some other guys seems to make some good fights later. I see a big year for Top rank this year. But the it could change hands again once pacquaio retires and chavez jr gets expose. HBO those like like lower guys like donaire.

2010 is gonna be big for boxing. GBP better step it up and creat new stars. I see Top rank making a power play. I think this is gonna be a good year for boxing.

Mayweather is the biggest crossover star in boxing. Truth be told when he fights the money comes out. Just think of the last two fights as compared to Pac. Floyd fought in much smaller venues yet his fights still gererated as much or more money. Promoters and Networks care about the bottom line that is money they can put in thier pockets. Larger venues mean bigger overhead and less walk-a-way capital.

People confuse Networks wanting great fights, they could care less about the greatness of the fight as long as it makes money, and as long as a fighter makes money they will keep showing his fights.

Those guys you listed arent stars and never will be. If I was a betting man I would bet that Top Rank would go belly up long before GBP. Arum is hinged on one fighter Pac and we all know it. Pavlik is a bust, Cotto even before he started getting dominated wasnt a big star.

Interesting. Good find. I get that impression as well. Arum is on top. He's gloating a bit but Golden Boy does seem weak.

Who cares about Golden Shower Promotions. DiBella is the best company. Good promoter who treats his fighters with respect.:deal

When you look deep into it since the HBO contract 3 years ago you'll see that is GBP is either horrible choosing future boxing stars or just have an incredible case of bad luck.

    Ponce Deleon - TKO'D 1 JML
    Rey Bautista - TKO'D 1 Deleon
    Victor Ortiz - Quitter
Lucas Mattheyse - Lost to zab
    AJ Banal - Quitter
    James Kirkland - Prison
    Danny Jacobs - KTFO
    Joan Guzman - Unprofessional
    Vicente Escobedo - Bust
    Juan Diaz - Finished
Antonio Escalate - Ko'd twice since signing with GBP
    Jhonny Gonzalez - Glass chin
    Jorge Linares - KTFO 1
Abner Mares - Eye surgery held him back for awhile

Khan and Alvarez are doing alright for now but they just barely signed with GBP within the last year, and GBP is about out of time to prove to HBO they can make the big stars.

Arum knows this and is gloating hard about it.

GBP have some potential PPV stars in Khan, Alvarez, Ortiz, Matthysse, Marquez, Maidana, Guzman. The fact 6 of those are in the same division (JMM will move up) means they can have an in-house 140lb super 6 style tourny and make a super star with the winner without risking a fight against Bradley/Alexander unless 1 of those 2 sign with GBP

GBP have dropped stock with DLH retiring, Mayweather maybe ceasing their relationship and Mosley/Hopkins/Marquez near retirement/leaving. But thats a natural product cycle

Arum has the reigns at the moment as he was lucky enough to seal the deal with Pacquaio, if Pacquaio had signed with GBP (well he sort of did anyway), GBP would be on top right now and Top Rank would drop down a few notches

Arum and Don King are ready to croak at any minute.

DLH isnt even 40 yet, I wouldnt be so sure that golden boy promotions is a sinking ship.

Look how far they have come in like 5 years time. Things change and fast in the promotion business. Don King was the man for 30 years and he is basically a nobody today. Even 5-10 years ago Don King had a vice grip on the heavyweight division, problem was he couldnt sign the top champs in Lewis and the Klits.

I wonder if Arum has told Mayweather 'if you want the Pacquaio payday dump GBP' to reduce GBPs leverage with HBO

Top Rank can actually develop talent. GBP can only sign established talent, they can't build. They may be the future, but they aren't the present. Although Arum is old, he will be around because he has boxing to hold on to.

    I got news for you.
Manny Pacquiao Promotions will be the next company that will take over this mess
There will be so many new filipinos and asians and they will probably sign with him plus he will be so rich then that he wont have any financial problems
Also he is so famous that he will attract all the young guns out there
Plus Manny has the intelligence and the power and the luck and dedication to attract everything his way
    Give him a few years

GBP problem was to sign all the pretty boys and you have to sign the hungry ones, just like Arum and King, you have to get the ones from the streets
