:rofl You guys must be feeling pretty dumb by now! After all, you know the facts better than the people close to the situation, right??? From Fightnews.com Pavliks promoter, Bob Arum, said the problem reached a life-threatening level. We knew what Kelly went through physically and how close he was to not making it at all, not just to fight, but not making it at all, Arum said. Contentions that it was all a scam were infuriating, he added. To have those statements made, like the This content is protected that trains Williams, claiming that Kelly was faking the injury, when I hear that I feel so embarrassed for the sport, said Arum, rarely if ever one to take an understated approach. Im 78 and Ive put my whole life into this sport and to hear This content is protected like that talk when they have no basis for what they are saying really makes me sad. I can't wait for Kelly to destroy the Punisher. That is if PW even takes the fight now. After getting beat up by Martinez, this isn't such a sure thing anymore. :bbb
The only reason Pavlik would have a staph infection for 4 months is negligence or stupidity. Either way, even if the injury was real, it's his own damn fault that it was lingering to the point where a bigger money fight needed to get cancelled. In the meantime, he'll be making 6 figures to fight a nobody on a PPV card that only his hardcore fans will buy. Who's the moron?
Basically the Morons hes talking about are the same kinda folk i speak about in my is the internet killing boxing thread. Nobody read that thread, saw the title and posted which proves a point. Idiots normally see whats on the surface and dont bother to open the book and read it.
It's pretty disappointing to see a post as ignorant as this one from a poster like you Brick. I am a healthcare professional, and I specialize in the administration and monitoring of medications. I've seen dozens of cases of MRSA that lasted longer than 4 months. I've also seen the loss of life and limbs over MRSA. Pavlik is damn lucky he didn't lose at least part of his left hand, and that has nothing to do with "negligence or stupidity." It has to do with the life threatening nature of methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus (mrsa.)
No, it just proves that no one gave a **** about your thread. Most reasonable fans ignore the window-lickers of the forums. Who cares if someone thinks Pavlik ducked, if Pavlik knows he couldn't fight?
So you're a male nurse? Anyways, more power to him...and if his infection was this serious he should have taken precaution and not fought at all. Either he is fit to fight or simply afraid of loose some of his shine again by getting his ass whooped and so now hes taking on a C level fighter and calling it a PPV, bull ****.
What the hell are you going on about? "If his infection was that serious?" I'd call seeing specialsits in cleveland, New York, and Vegas, along with two surgeries and a 4 day hospital stay relatively serious. Pretend your the champ in a particular division. You're faced with a choice between being stripped of your titles for inactivity, or fighting a ranked guy you can beat with one good hand. What would you do? They had a five week camp for this fight, and Pavlik still cannot make a proper fist. Now, if you're a Williams supporter, what version of Pavlik would you prefer to see PW fight? An injured fighter who had a 5 week camp after a 10 month lay off? Or, the 100% beast that ran over McKart, Zertuche, Miranda, and Taylor?
Pavlik should move on to where? There's Bute, but I personally would not put Pavlik in the ring with Lucian until he does two things: One, fight a better southpaw than Bronco McKart; two, fight a good "B" level guy at 168. If Miranda beats Stieglitz, HBO may suggest a Pavlik/Miranda rematch, but in my opinion that would be a clear cut case of "title poaching." There's Sturm, but rumor has it that even though Sturm hooked up with Roach, his next fight will still be in Germany. That does nothing to inspire HBO to up the ante for Pavlik/Sturm. I suppose Miranda followed by Bute would be a decent route, but I'd still like to see Pavlik/Williams. After the Williams/Martinez fight I no longer consider PW a legit middleweight. However, considering the history, I think KP needs to get Williams in the ring by any means necessary.
I don't wanna see Williams/Pavlik until Paul has taken care of Martinez. If Martinez happens to beat Williams in a rematch, then I would want to see Martinez/Pavlik take place.
heres the things...so many fighters pull out of fights and use an injury as an excuse (haye, mayweather anyone?) so when someone is legitimately hurt then fans are gonna call bull**** on it.
If boxing made sense, we might see Pavlik/Sturm, and Williams/Martinez II as co-features, and then the winners face off. But, that's not likely.
