Quite opposite actually, Arum is feeding Cotto to Chavez Jr. (Building Jr's resume) knowing that IF say Jr. should lose Bob/Top Rank still has Margarito Vs. Cotto II on the backside. :deal Cotto is sacrificial lamb here.
Actually I like the idea of Chavez-Margarito. That's likely a slugfest 'til the last bell. Chavez has the edge skill-wise but not by much and I don't think he has the power to hurt Marg. If Marg can't be hurt he'll keep coming forward with punches and that always gives him a chance to be effective.
Jr has said in the pat he doesn't want to face Margarito because he admires him a lot since some years ago...
Yes, Jr and Arum will feed Margorito to Maravilla...Margo has said he is more than willing to accommodate Sergio, whatever weight he wants, he'll get schooled again...
It seems that TR intents on cashing out on Cotto. Whether it be because they think he's shot or if they think he will eventually leave them for another promotional company, this much seems obvious.
If I was Chavez's people, I would push for the Cotto fight. Eather way, it would be a good expierience for him, with huge up side and good exposure. If he loses, it wont be brutally, and in a few years, all will be forgotten and forgiven, Cotto is loved fighter and is viewed as top tier. No shame in losing to a fighter like that when youre young. If he wins, obviously it propels him to the next level in boxing. I would def stay away from Margarito right now. Let Chavez have a few more tough fights to feel the flames before putting him in with Marg. The Marg from the Pac fight would put a hurting on Chavez, imo. That being said, as a fan Id like to see either fight. But, if he doesnt fight Cotto, I would stay away from top tier fighters for the moment. No need to do a huge jump up in class right away. Like I said, Id probably offer Zb a rematch on an undercard in the near future, have another fight with him since this one was competetive and try to improve on their last performence.
Arum's such a chump, he's gonna freeze out Sergio. He'll vacate before negotiating vs Sergio. Chavez has a chance at beating Cotto, Margo would **** him though. Either way it's all win win for Arum and eventually Pac's gonna fight the winner of Chavez vs COtto or Margo for his ninth title at some stupid catchweight when Chavez isn't a legit champ anyways.
