Clottey had a fight scheduled the very next month. You have no idea why that fight never came together. Furthermore, I already said I wasn't sure about Clottey. However, you claimed Williams turned down a fight with Margo in order to fight Quintana after Cintron pulled out. That is a completely false statement. Don't try to change the argument and throw out half ass evidence(that doesn't even prove that you're right) to deflect from that fact you made a completely inaccurate statement.

You just don't when to quit do you? Clottey had a fight scheduled in March 2007? Margarito turned down an immediate rematch and instead petitioned WBO to force a rematch?:nut Where is your evidence of any of this? And don't say Goosen because I will just . Half-assed evidence? That was a press statement, made by Goosen on this very site. Obviously, Clottey was an option. Funny how I didn't see Margarito on that list or read anything about him turning down an immediate rematch anywhere, ever. But please, keep talking. The more you do, the more you make yourself look like a :nut.

Alright, let's see we can't get on the same page here. I'll try to explain it again. Margo lost to Williams in July of 2007. He then successfully petitioned to become the no.1 contender to Williams' title. However, the WBO allowed for Williams to make an optional defense first. Williams chose Cintron for that defense. Cintron pulled out of the fight in late November/early December of 2007. At this point, Margo was offered a chance to replace Williams. However, Top Rank passed as they were already focusing on the Cotto fight. Other fighters were also discussed and Quintan was settled on for February of 2008. Now I was slightly off on my timeline. Clottey had a fight scheduled for 2 months after the Williams/Quintana fight, not one month.

Where is your evidence that Williams turned down fights with Margo and Clottey after Cintron pulled out of the fight? I'm sorry, but a press release stating that Clottey was an option is not evidence that Williams turned down a fight with Clottey. The statement also says that Judah was an option. Did Williams turn down a fight with him as well? The answer is no, Judah was injured and wouldn't have been available. The truth is, you don't know why that fight didn't happen.

Don't try to change the argument again. You said that Williams turned down a fight with Clottey. Where is your evidence of this?

This isn't about March of 07, its about 08. You dont even know when you are talking about, let alone what you are talking about.

The link you give is talking about Williams setting up a match with Quitana, which happened in 08.. Dumbass.

Clottey had a match set 2 months before the Feb 9th date. And fought 2 months after that date.

You Floydboys need to get your story straight. What I said is Team Williams opted to fight Quintana after Cintron got hurt when Clottey and Margarito wanted the fight and were available. The way I see it, that was either ducking or cherry picking or both. Now if you can provide me with some evidence printed at the time from an independent source showing that Top Rank was offered that Margarito take Cintron's place and passed then I will concede that point, but until then I think you're FOS.

    Here's Goosen's response to Arum claiming the offer was bull****;

In response, I have two things to say and I'll keep it short and sweet:

    1) We are pleased to learn that Bob is the only promoter that can undertake a successful pay-per-view event. Maybe "I was lying yesterday, and telling the truth today" is the stimulus of Bob's continued erratic and uncivilized verbal behavior? Or may be because Bob feels his own "$8 Million Dollar offer" to Floyd Mayweather was all BS??? As a fellow promoter of Bob's, I'll let our record speak for itself.

Such in the case that Bob, to this day, neglects to recognize that not only did our company, Goossen Tutor Promotions pay Floyd Mayweather $8,000,001 to fight the linear Welterweight World Champion Carlos Baldomir in his next immediate match after "Bob's offer," but the pay-per-view event we promoted was very successful, especially considering the lack of name recognition of Baldomir. In other words, Goossen Tutor paid Mayweather more than Bob had "offered" Floyd and in the Margarito case, Bob took close to $2 Million Dollars LESS of his fighter's money not to fight Paul Williams!

    2) As for Bob's profanity laced words, Bob has no other explanation, at least a correct and rational one, of "why he would leave Millions of Dollars of his fighter's money on the table?" How do you tap dance out of that one with your fighter? I'll leave it at that!

On a closing thought, the only willing fighter for Paul to fight last month was in the super welterweight division, although today he is still able to comfortably fight as a welterweight. So remember, there is ONLY ONE Welterweight Champion today and its Paul Williams. Just ask Antonio Margarito.

"Opting to fight Quintana over Clottey or Margarito, and then losing to him I thought was also a big mistake."

This is exactly what you said. No way Williams could opt to fight Quitana instead of these guys unless he had the option to fight them. If he had the option to fight them and he didn't, that would mean that he turned down the fights. Please show me some evidence that Williams turned down a fight with Margo or Williams after Cintron pulled out. Again, Clottey being mentioned as a possible opponent is not evidence that Williams turned down the fight. This isn't rocket science here. Also, what does Floyd Mayweather have to do with this? Simply throwing his name around isn't going to help your cause here.

That's because you're a blind hater. You're the same guy that said Verno Phillips would cause Williams all sorts of trouble and beat him.

Why don't you start by providing some evidence that Williams turned down a fight with Clottey and Margo after the Cintron incident like you claimed? You might as well give up on your statment about Margo. Simple common sense dictates that Arum wouldn't put him there with Williams with the Cotto fight already setup; especially considering how Williams ****ed up his plans the previous summer.

This is really a case where both fighters are being screwed by their promoters. Arum of course stands to make more money matching Margarito with Cotto, and having Margarito take less money, because both are his fighters and a Margarito-Cotto II PPV would clearly outperform a Margarito-Williams II PPV. But perhaps Arum will make up it to him on the back end.

Williams is being screwed because Goosen can't seem to get him any big money fights, a problem I doubt he would have it he was signed with Top Rank, or even GBP (Of course, I doubt Arum would ever sign him as long as Haymon is attached). Instead he's got him stuck to the WBO, in 154 and a mandatory to Sergei Dzindiruk, a high risk, low reward fight. I think all Williams problems with getting good fights might go away if he dropped Goosen.

Kevin Iole published copies of the offer letter AND Arum's rejection letter. Arum can make whatever claims he wants, but the facts are all out there to see.

Same old nuthugger bs. As soon as you ask for evidence of their claims the start running for the hills. In regards to Williams ducking Margarito and Clottey in his first title defense, the evidence is that he didn't fight them, he opted to fight Quintana instead. He was the champ was he not? It is simple common sense.

As for the Verno Phillips thing, you're right, I said that. I wanted to get some discussion started. I also went on in that same thread to back track on that prediction and call it a toss-up fighting that depended on how shot-worn Verno was. He did give him fits for a few rds at least until his legs gave out.

I'm still waiting for your evidence to back up your claims.
