"We're between 750,000 and 800,000. Sure, it's a disappointment," stated Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum, who recently revealed the number of pay-per-view buys for last months rematch between previously undefeated former champion Timothy Bradley and multi-division world champion Manny Pacquiao.

"I'm telling you, it is what it is. The numbers are the numbers," Arum recently explained to ESPN.com. "The absence of Mexican or Hispanic opponent hurt. If you had a challenger like, for example, Marquez, the fight would do over a million buys. Tim is a great fighter, but he's not Hispanic and we tried everything to energize the black community without that much success. But we all made money on the fight. We did OK."

    misleading thread title

it is well-known mexican-americans are the biggest buyers of ppvs in america

bernard hopkins even said himself he knows not many african-americans bought his ppvs after checking the geographical stats on his ppv buys

Boxing is, sadly, a niche sport now in the US. It's clearly not as popular as it is in Mexico, the UK, and eastern Europe.

Hopefully, the HW title fight on ESPN will draw more interest. PPV and premium cable haven't been good for the sport in the long run.

And I'm not surprised to be honest when it's so expensive for PPV, a lot of people have PPV parties which only counts as one buy and I reckon more and more people are streaming them illegally.

TBE (to be expected). Bradley has never been a big draw. So, this was excellent exposure for him. He would flourish under Al Haymon, though.

800 buys when you lost to bradley in the fight before and got knocked out that is crazy numbers if you put it in perspective

duckweather did 800 buys with the ghost when he was rated p4p the best

Exactly. No shame. Not many fights are 1 mil plus buys.

here's why less 'hispanics' bought it....

because they're hardcore fans.... and they saw the card sucked....

bob keeps saying that people only care about the 'main event' which is bull****.....

people look at the card, and say "i'll pass on this"

Who cares really? Pac v Bradley was a good fight, both of them were indisputably p4p top 5 boxers and Pacquiao delivered a master-class to a high level, hitherto undefeated boxer (compare Bradley's cv to Maidana's). The numbers are irrelevant from a fan point of view, except for the fact that Mayweather fans seem to feel victorious in getting higher numbers than Pac.
