Arum dissing rigondeaux

It's been said above... Talk about him having to leave his family behind to box professionally, his amazing Olympic background, and the fact that he just beat Nonito who's been undefeated for 12 years, with quality opposition. Throw him in with some face first fighters and let him dismantle them to grow an audience. Have some of his fights in Miami. He can be promoted, Arum just has to put the work in.

I personally think Arum just said this because he's mad Donaire lost. He said he had Donaire winning going into the 11th but lost the last two rounds.... Really?

Rigo completely dominated the 12th giving the judges nothing to work with in dishonestly handing him the round.


When the fix is in, bought off judges give anything not dominated by the opponent a round to the promoters fighter.
These bought off judges walk a fine line and choosing which rounds to give dishonestly. They really have to sense in these rounds that the way the round went is the best Donaire can do in the rounds to come, and so they have to give Donaire those rounds and give Rigo rounds only rounds completely dominated.
Thats how the judges scored the Marquez-Pacquiao fights, particularly the 3rd fight.

The fix was definitely in, Arum is mad that Donaire gave nothing for which the judges to work their dishonesty.
All Donaire needed to do was not get dominated in round 12 and the fight would have been his courtesy of Bob Arum's payouts! :-(

 

Of course the only time Arum showed the least bit interest in actually promoting Cuban fighters there was when he needed strong support for a card with an even bigger non-draw in Bradley. Other than that he whines about taxes and attendance in Miami out of one side of his mouth while whining about Cubans not being draws out of the other.

I do hope everyone agreeing with Arum's comments on this matter though never ever pretends Top Rank is somehow the best at making stars out of guys from the wrong background. This is especially the case for those who like to prattle on about how much bigger guys like Martinez or Ward would be if they were with "the right promoter," when it's manifestly clear that unless you're of the right ethnicity and have the right style or personality, you're not getting pushed.

 

Rigo should make sure and save this as ammunition for leaving TR.

If anything, Arum benefits more from Donaire losing since now if Nonito wants a rematch he will have to sign another contract. Why do u think he finally made this fight happen. I guarentee Donaire turned down a contract extension already and so now Bob has him where he wants him. You can bet on that.

 

Floyd said it first about Bob Arum, "if ur gonna leave me, ur gonna take a loss before u do." Thats how Arum works. He has done it to everyone except for Floyd but he tried to serve him to the Margacheating bricks. Arum offers an extension before contract is over, fighter denies, then he stops padding the fighters record and puts him up against the best and does a little whining and dining with the judges. Its all a big game to these guys. Favorite who Bob wants and youll get the call for future assignments. Sports is money and money is a game. Thats boxing for you.

 

He extended his contract with Top Rank for at least 4 years in 2011. Arum was enthusiastic about making that fight back before that extension was signed, but I believe only begrudgingly made it now because there were no opponents and the Mares kerfuffle did put legitimate pressure on them to make it.

Donaire tried to jump ship a couple years ago and even his wife got into it with Arum. Why do u think Nonitos isnt demanding a rematch? Cuz he knows that not only will he have to committ to Rigo but to Arum for at least a few more years. Look at Pacquiao who hired a firm to investigate the finances, then Arum and his puppet Konz step in, firm gets fired, Psc has to fight Bradley and marquez back to back when for years his opponents were being handpicked. Thats how Arum operates

 

And people wonder why Arum is the most hated promoter in the game today...Way to **** on your fighter after he won his biggest fight of his career...The day Arum leaves the better.
