Great post. This really sums it up for me. Rigondeaux is trickier to market than the likes of a Donaire, but just because marketing him takes more thought doesn't mean that it's impossible. Ok, so you won't get very far with straightforward nationalism, because he's Cuban, but you can very effectively push him as a ruthlessly efficient heel, who doesn't show emotion and who everyone wants to see lose. Simultaneously, flatter the audience by going on about how only the more sophisticated fans appreciate the subtle brilliance of his work.
He will be the second coming of Ivan Calderon, a promoter's nightmare. Unless he adjust his style, the money fights he's dreaming of, looks bleak for him.
Hey, you're right...You win you ***** alt!:good No need to argue with you...Yeah, you know your **** you *****!
Arum has to realize that Rigo's strengths are his speed and boxing skills. He made a top fighter look limited last night. I thought Donaire came out looking great as far as his effort, but when he made excuses after it sort of diminished everything.
Rigo was boring and the crowd ackknowldged that ..I wonder how well Hopkins does with his defensive style ..If Rigo doesnt open up more he will have the same issues as Hopkins had when it comes to marketability !
Very good point. Donaire is exciting against come forward fighters. Against boxers and fellow counter punchers he is extremely boring just waiting on the outside trying to land that big punch. He is not using his jab enough for some reason.
bob shits on fighters when it suits him, he is right rigo is a hard sell not helped by his bad english and the fact cubans don't support their fighters well [yt]KBv4zogS6vA[/yt] he shits on donaire here and claims rigo would beat him and this was about 2 years ago
I am smelling alot of buthurt in this thread... Dont blame arum blame the fighter. Boring flawless performance by rigo tbh.
