After Mosley, JMM is the logical next fight as will likely be the most profitable. If Marquez can get GBP out of the picture it's almost a certainty to happen.

When Arum mentioned Marquez needed to prove himself as a welter, he didn't envision Marquez leaving GBP. With GBP taking it's share Arum would only want the fight if it's a garaunteed seller and JMM emerging as a threat at welter would be the best way to generate maximum interest.

Anyway I'm not defending Arum, just trying to find the reason. He may or may not have taken the fight if JMM remained with GBP. Oscar really ****ed things up with those steroid allegations in the Ring. Now both sides are suiing each other and it's almost impossible for them to work together.

It's bad for boxing, but you can't blame Arum for something Oscar instigated. Oscar acts alls ****ing innocent, pleaing to Arum for a big fight on twitter, yet while he was doing that his company were taking Top Rank to court to dispute the money Top Rank paid them from Manny's fights. Oscar's one of the biggest snake's in the grass you'll ever see.

This is what is going to happen:

Both JMM and Bradley are free agents. Arum is going to offer each of them a 2-3 fight deal. The first fight will be against each other this summer.
The winner gets Pacquiao in November.
The loser gets a big consolation payday.

Arum is using the Pacquiao card at this point to lure talent to Top Rank.
But, is this any different than what HBO/Golden Boy have been doing the last several years? HBO gives Golden Boy a guaranteed # of dates on their network. Other promoters or fighters come to HBO (edit) and ask to get their fighters on the network. HBO tells them, we don't have any dates, but, Golden Boy does. Go talk to/sign with them and we will get you on. According to Hauser and others, this is exactly what has been happening.
Arum is just doing the exact same thing with Pacquiao.
In this case I don't blame Arum at all.

HOWEVER, yesterday's rant by Arum at HBO regarding Berto-Ortiz really pi$$ed me off. Saying that Berto shouldn't be fighting a guy who just came off a draw. He should be fighting the winner of Jones - Soto-Karass.
First, Berto-Ortiz is a better fight.
Second, isn't Mosley coming off a draw AND A LOSS, and somehow he deserve the right to fight Pacquioa?
And it was chicken$hit the way he did it too. Doing it at a press conference for another event with an HBO executive sitting right by him.
Yea, let me take your money for this fight, but, I'm going to thrash you in front of hundreds of people with no opportunity for you to defend yourself.

Maybe you should take what the promoters say with a grain of salt. I do. Otherwise you'll be amongst those arguing over what was said and where does that get your or accomplish? Nothing. What do you care what Pacqiuao fans think of Arum? I don't.

Personally I am of the impression that JMm SHOULS try to beat somewone closer to Pac's size before getting a fight. I haven't seen JM as effective above 135 as he is at that weight and below. He';s slower and gets tagged A LOT more. He's probably been hit more this last 4-5 fights then the 10 before.

BUT if this fight was made for this fall, I won't complain.

Good post. Well Jones and Soto-Karrass are TR fighters, so you know why he wants Berto to fight the winner, but it is bull****. I agree with him that Berto should not be fighting Ortiz though. Berto should've been fighting Cintron or his mandatory.

He also said it was bad because Ortiz was a Jr Ww, Berto a WW titlist.

Ortiz was a JrWW, had not beaten ANY good jrWW's yet. Moves up and gets a title shot? And lets see....Pac had beaten several top WW's before going for the JrMW belt.

Got that moron? Is it too hard to comprehend the difference there? I'm sure you'll agree with me, but will post some bull****, becasue you're a bitter little ****...

I don't really care about what Arum says, but I think Marquez fans rightfully get annoyed when their fighters gets torn a new one ultimately because he isn't with the right promoter. Taking most things promoters say with a grain of salt is the proper default stance. Also it's great that you don't care about what fans think of Arum, but the "what does that accomplish" standard can be applied to pretty much anything discussed on this forum. To take an example from this thread, why do you care how Marquez fans scored the Pacquiao fights? That just gets you into discussions of subjective opinion, and what does that accomplish? Nothing.

Ortiz was not even rated as one of the top 140lbers. This fight is slightly more credible than Alvarez-Hatton, only because Ortiz has actually fought at welter before. GBP have engineered three bull**** title shots in the space of a month..Ortiz-Berto, Hatton-Alvarez, Morales-Maidana..fans actually want these guys to have a monopoly?

What do I care how Marquez fans scored a fight? Well, for one, that's a legitimate boxing discussion, as opposed to say, arguing over what promoters say. Second, I am a Marquez fan.

There are actual boxing discussions, and then there are the other 90% of the threads.

I can't say I pick all the right battles, it's easy to get into a pointless back and forth with an idiot...but I do try.

I'd say it's actually LESS credible then Alvarez vs. M. Hatton. And yes, fans want those as long as it's not Arum making **** like that I guess...

They let him fight without them but Arum absolutely refused to pay GBP a red cent. But he exagerrated by saying Marquez priced himself out. Whatever JMM asked for was more than likely reasonable, but it came with GBPs cut for them to let him fight. Arum killed it on those grounds because he wanted absolutely zero involvement from Golden Boy.
