Arum: I will offer PW the same contract and will give him one year to accept.

Arum will offer Paul the fight after Espino. If he doesn't except the offer, they will go after Sturm. I don't see Bute until late 2010. Team Pavlik/ Arum wants Williams... BAD!!!

Speculation is that with Roach in town that they may be getting a close look at him for a match up with Sturm. Lowe has mentioned Sturm and Bute in the 'road map' before. But, in the end, not sure how much you can put into what Arum says. It is a fluid business and most of the fights he mentions never comes to pass.

You get the impression Arum would rather see Kelly punishing Peterson than 'The Punisher'? I guess beating up 'TP' will have to do. 'TP' will work better after this fight if it happens. :D

    Good Post bro.

I agree about Bute. If KP wants Bute he needs to move up permanently. Also, Rubio, followed by ten months off, followed by Espino, followed by Bute would be a very bad idea. Williams, Sturm, and then a properly controled move up would be the right way to do this.

However, if you look at some of the young guns coming up through the ranks, you can see that the middleweight division is going to heat up pretty soon. Pavlik is in a good postion to do exaclty what Haglar and Hopkins did.

Agree. How long do you think Pavlik can keep making 160lbs without too many problems ?

He had a few less weeks this time so I heard he still had a few pounds to go over the last week, but overall they have the routine down and it doesn't seem to be as much of a problem. Weight control is his fathers 'job'. At first they used to mention it every press conference but now it has been a while since they have said anything about it.

This is the key question. KP isn't like the man in your picture who could pack on muscle at will and retain (or improve) speed, power and skill. I don't think he'd be as strong in P4P terms at 168 as at 160, and that's a big problem given that his style is pretty much predicated on imposing his size and strength advantages on his opponents. If he can make 160 for a good few more years, I think he should stick there.

Kelly was a boxer in the amateur ranks. When he hit the pros and people started falling down they adapted to that. Post Bhop I think they may change some. They did for Rubio and the idiots here thought he was 'past it' because he just systematically destroyed Rubio and carried him for the home crowd. He worked on his boxing for that fight and it showed. Tonight I think they just want to go out, land a right hand and go home early. They don't want to give the left a chance to become a problem again at this point.

That, brother, is the million dollar question. Back in 2006 there was a lot of talk about weight issues. Those issues were behind the catch weight fight with Leonard Pierre. After that KP got the title eliminator with Zertuche, and the talk about weight issues pretty much disappeared.

Kelly can definitely box; I'm not one of the "one-dimensional robot" crowd. He basically out-boxed Rubio - made him miss, countered, mixed it up with lead right hands, lead left hooks, random body shots. As you say, he wasn't running him over. But I'm not sure he could beat the likes of Bute and Ward purely by boxing: he needs to impose himself and apply pressure. The bottom line is that he's a better fighter than he is a boxer.

I definitely want him to just go out there and take Espino out as soon as possible tonight. Too bad it's not on TV over here.
