The thing everyone's ignoring in all this P4P talk is Margarito was sold on being the most feared WW, then as the top WW, his stock has taken a nosedive after taking a 1 sided humiliating beating. His fans jumped ship and stopped coming to ESB, hes not the draw he was. Even Mexican fans will probably be looking to spend their hard earned dollars on Marquez/Vasquez/Diaz/Barrera fights instead.

Plus who's going to fight Margarito? Cotto can fight Mosley for the championship. Mosley doesn't need him. Cintron is at 154

Maybe he could beg for a Williams rematch :D

The dollar has gained significantly on most currencies in recent months and the peso has lost 5 percent to the dollar in just the last year.

    Shows what you know.

Yeah it really doesn't matter what it was made of, something hard right over the knuckles is patently against the rules and completely unethical.

Don't try to get a reasonable response out of him. He's been sniffin Tony's crotch for a while. Margarito needs kicked to the kerb and the sooner it happens the better.

I hope after the year ban he comes back and top fighters refuse to get in the ring with him. I'd LOVE to see that.

This ain't Margo hating by the way. This is cheating ******* hating.

If Arum does this the California Commission is not going to renew his license and Margarito will be fighting in Mexico for good.

The commission will not take kindly to this.

What he already did and they WERE already able to prove (that he used illegal wraps with some foreign substance) was enough to warrant a suspension of 'at least one year.' Whether or not there turns out to be plaster or some other hardening substance on the wraps (and possibly whose blood it turns out to be on the wraps) will dictate whether the suspension ends up falling into the 'or longer' category. Also, he's still under investigation by the California Department of Justice.

That said, he has the right to go to Mexico and fight there if they'll let him. If I were the CSAC though, for flauting the rule like this, I would suspend Bob Arum's agent's license in California if he put on a show with Margarito elsewhere while he's suspended. Heck, based on his quote, I think Arum's anticipating this, since he's said he won't put on any more fights in California until this is all over, but if they suspend his agent's license, then there's a theoretical argument that he couldn't put on a show with any of his fighters that are based in California.

Does it really matter what was in the wraps? Any insert is against the rules. Actually Margo may be lucky the commission jumped the gun. A thorough analysis may show it to be of a substance which was no business being anywhere near a boxer's gloves thus destroying their ultra-flimsy "it was an accident" defense. Best to take his punishment now before all the facts come out.

Tyson actually bit off his opponent's ear and got his license reinstated. I doubt Margarito will have much trouble regardless of what he does during his year of banishment.

Again there is a big difference between performance enhancers and someone planning on preeminently damaging another fighter or bludgeoning them to death with a lethal weapon .

Thats like saying the guy smoking a joint, should get just as much time as the guy conspiring to commit murder with a bat.

Because the California DOJ is still testing the wraps to determine what the foreign substance was and whose blood was on the wraps. This does lead me to believe that the substance wasn't plaster of Paris....if it was, it wouldn't have taken very long to test, although then again you can never tell whether the reason it's going slow is because it's a tough nut to crack or because of the bureaucracy.

The CSAC doesn't release official findings, but they did have an official hearing with some official results, which is what happened yesterday. This isn't Congress.

Just in case anyone forgot that promoters don't have any ethics, along comes the Bobfather to remind us.
Even if he's legally allowed to stage a fight in Mexico, ignoring the spirit of the commissions ruling after publicy ridiculing their findings just makes him, and boxing, look bad.
