Then Chavez Jr is a disgrace of a fighter and not a true mexican if he avoids Martinez.<<<<If he feels he cant beat him.

A fighter is in it for themselves, so if he can get more for facing Margo I think that will do fine as an excuse. He's not the finished product (a long way off in fact) whilst, like you said, Martinez is in prime form, it's hardly fair to expect someone still learning their trade to jump in with the best in the division.

What's Floyd's excuse for not fighting Martinez?...Is he too dangerous? Is it risk/reward?...

Then I hope he'll be happy to give up his belt within the next month.

Martinez is fighting two weight divisions above Floyd and is not a mandatory to fight him. Pretty poor equivocation there.

He's in his prime like Martinez, whilst Chavez ISN'T, Chavez is there for the money, Mayweather claims he is the money.

Martinez isn't the mandatory to Chavez (it's Rubio), Martinez however is calling Floyd out and wants that fight. Mayweather has fought at 154 and Martinez has said he can make 154, so the reason for not making that fight is....?

Oh I'm sorry I forgot this is the hate on Chavez thread not the "be real, fighters want the most money they can get for the least risk" thread.

Martinez is the real mandatory in which wbc knows that. Wbc made it clear that Martinez is first in line to face Chavez before Rubio. And again this thread isnt about Floyd. Floyd still hope the pacquiao fight happen in which everyone wants to see.

Martinez's "Champion Emeritus" status gives him first crack ahead of Rubio.

Also, since Floyd fought once at 154 in his entire career, he's somehow obligated to fight anyone who says they can go there? Mayweather's no more obligated to fight Martinez at 154 than Pacquiao is at 150; both are outside of the weight classes they're most comfortable and have fought most consistently aside from single aberrations. They don't need business-related excuses not to fight Martinez.

You mean the fight that has ben in talks 3 times despite being the biggest money fight, between 2 guys in the same division who are both at or near the top of their game?

Difference is we all know Chavez isn't near his potential, we all know a fighter doesn't go into boxing to take a beating, we know they go in it for the money. Chavez doesn't need to face Martinez, the WBC and HBO won't force the issue and Chavez can pick up equal or better pay for less risk.

The thread isn't about Floyd but the stupidity of some fans needs to be questioned. Why do you want to throw Chavez into a fight he has no chance of winning? Would you do the same to Floyd? Would you do the same to Pacquiao? Of course not, they aren't where they are by fighting in fights they aren't supposed to win.

Chavez will likely stay away from Martinez for 18-24 months (if Chavez even stays a middleweight), the WBC will put enough obstacles in front of Martinez to burn the time and when the time is ready it'll happen..likely when Chavez is at his peak and Martinez is on a visible slide. It's boxing.

You take Sulaiman's word? Hahahaha and you think Bob Arum's a crook, he's not even half a crook when compared with Don Jose, who will, as said, stick obstacles in the way until he's happy Chavez will be able to beat Martinez...or Martinez loses, hence trying to make Rubio v Martinez.

    1. Actually Chavez might be at his full potential; this could very well be as good as he's going to get.

    2. The desire to throw Chavez into a fight he has little chance of winning probably stems from people being regularly subjected by HBO and Top Rank to fights where his opponents have little chance of winning, as well as the fact that he's now promoted as the middleweight champion of the world.

Sulaiman's a liar but he's been publicly stating far too frequently that the next fight for that belt will be Chavez-Martinez or Martinez-Rubio. And clearly, my main point was that Martinez is ahead of Rubio in any pecking order, something you haven't provided any evidence against. Unless Martinez gets a big fighter below 160, gets paid off, or Alvarez-Chavez takes place, I do think there's a good chance he'll have the belt back in his possession within 6 months.

1-Chavez has improved A LOT since he went to Freddy and thats with out considering the fact he's not near his physical prime (give him 2 years). He may be at his best but personally...I doubt it, I really think he's 2-3 years from being the final article.

2-So the desire is to see the guy lose. That's all it is. No one is forcing you to watch him, or to listen to HBO/Top Rank. Heck it's Top Ranks job promote him and HBO have found that he sells well enough. If you stop watching him they will stop shoving him in your face.

Sulaiman lies, he'll lie about anything and everything. Take what he says with a pinch of salt whenver he says ANYTHING. The only evidence that Martinez is ahead of Rubio are words from Don Jose who's word simply cannot be used in evidence, in fact doing so makes you seem like you trust him to keep his word. He will use any excuse to keep the two men apart, like wise Martinez could look to other routes and try to take the WBO title from Pirog, you know the Russian who keeps calling Martinez's name out and who would actually be a competitive fight...
