Wow, you dont know jack **** about boxing technique and/or scoring and that comment says it all. FYI. Miguel Cotto ring generalship is one of the best in boxing.
When you the admit obvious fact that Cotto won at least four rounds you also admit the judging was pro Floyd. There is no doubt an undefeated far more popular Cotto would've been given five at least. With some more rounds Cotto only a few punches away from winning. That's highly competitive by any estimates. You sticking to the rounds in a sport that is judged by matter of a opinion and known to be heavily swayed by popularity, to make a claim a fight wasn't close is telling. There is an article on Queensbury Rules about this fight uses the AP in this fight to talk about subjective scoring. In it, multiple AP guys gave Cotto nine different rounds, in other words, a case could be made for at least eight rounds going to Cotto, that's proof of high competitivity, not the words of random fan man's opinion..
Floyd obviously, but in boxing, if you win 7 of the first 10, the ending doesn't matter. We know Cotto has at least 10 good rounds in him.
Good rounds don't mean he won them, don't get me wrong I'm not saying Cotto isn't a great fighter I'm just telling you what I see and it will be another good fight with the same results.
It does not matter. The last 30 seconds of the round you could land 2-3 punches and hurt your opponents, but the other 2 1/2 minutes of the round your opponent had you domintated with clean puching, ring generalship and effective agression and you will lose the round. This is what is happening in boxing now a days, the last few seconds of action does not wins the fight, the entire round does. To answer your question, Floyd finished much stronger than Miguel.
There is no favoritism over Floyd at 147, 154, at this point it's only "I wanna see Floyd fight this guy because I think he'll give him a tough fight" and that's what Cotto provides. Some may want to see this fight because why take a chance on Floyd fighting someone else who can't even compete, and some may believe Cotto is guaranteed to give Floyd all he can handle, I see nothing wrong with either opinion. Only the opinion that this fight definitely should not happen because the first fight was "uncompetitive"
Floyd. Out of 10 matches Cotto may win once. I admit it, as a die hard Cotto fan. IMHO, FMJr. defense is just SO DARN GOOD that when combined with his overall ring generalship can and will win the fight 9 times out of 10. Miguel will win that one based on intelligent agression, pressioning the offensive with smart defense and attacking the body. He will have to be in his 150% best physical shape ever. Ready to maintaing his uptempo like it was round 1 on each of the 12 rounds. I love Miguel, and I want him to rematch Floyd because I want him to test himself with the best. I want to see what he got and how he improves, what he does, and how he employes his skills....and may be, just may be win!
And what's so wrong with that? How many otheer fighter's you know whose chance is for a good fight against Floyd is all but guaranteed? Floyd hasn't had but one challenge in a decade, and that's Miguel, who is still around, why not see it again before he goes since it maybe the last one Floyd has at all, and almost definitely at 147 or 154?
