My first instinct is that he should absolutely accept. 1) His odds of beating Usyk second time around are even lower than first. 2) It would give him the opportunity to have a warm up fight against a boxer-mover of lower quality than Fury or Usyk like Hunter (although this would be a risk, maybe go fight Ortiz or some lower quality fighter) 3) He still gets the payday of AJ v Fury if Fury beats Usyk, or he still has to fight Usyk anyway only now Usyk will have the wear and tear that comes with an additional fight against Fury. 4) He gets the time he probably needs for a psycological recovery. The alternative is that he fights Usyk again, loses, then doesn't get to fight Fury or he does but for significantly less money than if he had only 2 losses on his record rather than 3. On a seperate note I'm sure we'd all prefer, as boxing fans, to see the best fight the best which right now is Fury v Usyk, or indeed Wilder v Usyk if Wilder manages to take Fury's head off, and we'd like to see this while these fighters are all still in (or close to) their prime.
Not really Fury is fast, but Usyk is faster. What makes you think he can't counter Fury ? If Usyk hurt AJ, he can hurt Fury. especially to the body
Fury is tougher and much sexier than AJ He can counter Fury but if Fury decides he wants to pin you down and go after you then you're in for a rough ride. Fury can take a shot.
AJ and his team are said to have activated the rematch clause with Usyk, I'm no legal eagle but is there then contractual law issues if Usyk so chose to pursue them? If AJ was willing to consider step aside money then it sure as hell would require Arum to pay very big bucks to AJ. Another issue in the matter i think is that Fury for all his talk of being a fighting man is now not truly in love with boxing, he really only wants the big money fight AKA for all the belts, AJ taking the Usyk rematch hinders Furys ultimate wish. Fury has shown after Wlad fight that he has issues, i'm sure Arum fears his present heavyweight hen that can lay the golden eggs This content is protected could have another meltdown, or just walk away if his opportunity to go for all the belts is not in near future. How wide is Arum willing to open his wallet i wonder?
Steve Cunningham a light puncher at Cruiserweight put Fury on ***** street and on his ass. If he can get hurt by Steve he can be hurt by Usyk just sayin.
Yeah, but not some monster that people are making him. He is beatable, especially vs guys who has stamina, speed, angles, footwork and fast hands. Usyk is not the type that you can just lean on him with your weight and bully. Fury always struggled with smaller guys. AJ had everything, but Usyk just took it from him at that night. Even his uppercut.
Can people stop overhyping Hunter for god damn sake ???? Not only he ducked Hrgovic, but who in the blue hell this guy has ever beat? He is a Feather fist as well. HE has absolutely 0 chances at trouble AJ at anything. He will most definitely be Highlight Reel KO by AJ. Saying all this i agree with your other assessment. This will be good move, but Hearn won't allow it, and that's it 500% sure. It would be way better for Joshua to have a full year in order to do the necessary improvements in his game, and actually change his team and approach of his fight. He needs to be way more hungrier, than he currently is.
Cunningham hit him with his best shots after he got up and Fury absorbed them all. Just like Ali you cannot stop him. Wilder also hit him with a monster left hook after he left him unconscious for 4 seconds and Fury ate it for breakfast Once you hurt Fury he becomes invincible, a primal instinct deep in his DNA kicks in
Hunter is over-hyped but relative to a lot of guys AJ could face he represents a bit of an unknown quantity in terms of how far he could go in the sport, as such AJ's camp will view him as a risk. And who hasn't ducked Hrgovic tbf?
I have a feeling Fury/Joshua is going to end up like Khan/Brook. It may happen eventually, but only hardcore brit fans will care.
Bob “the senile” Arum is correct this time, it’s time for the irrelevant bodybuilder to step aside and become a full time cabby in West Ham or a pundit for SKY sports, where he breaks down what it feels like to be a frightened gazelle inside the ring!
