of course you agree because it's wrong. They are having a card in brazil, they are planning one in Japan and have had lots of cards in the UK, and Canada and even Germany and Australia. They are planning TUF in the Phillipines and other countries also.

The cards in the UK are stacked with UK fighters, it's just a sensible marketing policy.

It's not wrong, it just panders to jingoistic tendencies.

They aren't done, but they are both milking heavy on old names.

Boxing is in a worse boat than MMA.

I hate to say it but it is the truth.

Milking heavy on old names? MMA as a sport isn't doing any such thing. Fedor is one of the major cornerstones of MMA and Strikeforce have him signed, so they're going to use him. He's only 34 and while he's wartorn, he can still fight. And the UFC is doing no such thing, the only person you could have a point with is maybe Randy Couture, but Anderson Silva? He's the reigning Middleweight Champion and nobody's been able to defeat him, and soon their most elite fighter; GSP is set to take him on. That's not milking an old guy, that's a guy dominating his weight division and no one out there to beat him, has nothing to do with age whatsoever.

And MMA have many rising prospects and fighters to carry the torch. GSP, Jon Jones, Phil Davis, Dan Hardy, Jose Aldo, Frank Edgar, Stefan Struve, there's tonnes of young guys who can be the face of MMA after Anderson and Fedor go, they don't even compete in the same company. MMA as a whole isn't milking anything, and neither are the promotions. They're using name value, sure, but it's not as if they're relying on a past prime fighter to sell their product.

    Arum is just plain wrong.

I don't think it matters about the demographic when the consistency in the numbers are on MMA's side.

If Manny retires post Shane, it will be interesting to ask Arum the same questions.

This post was never meant to be anti UFC or anti USA, just wishful thinking that MMA could be as open as boxing (I know) to the prospect of two great fighters ACTUALLY FIGHTING EACH-OTHER. Because you're told they're the best, doesn't mean they actually are...
