“You don’t want to pull the cake out of the oven before it’s baked. You gotta wait for the cake to bake,” Arum said. “You gotta be patient. So I’m going to be patient with this, and when it happens, it’s going to be as big a blockbuster as it can be.

“To do a successful event, we have to reach more than just the boxing public. With the boxing public, there is a demand for these fights to take place sooner rather than later because boxing people know how good of a fight it is and they can’t wait to see that kind of matchup. I’m aware of that. But that’s not what pays the bills for these fighters. Otherwise, what the hell do they need me for? My job is to maximize their revenues; it’s a business.”

how much longer does he plan on waiting.i don't really see how either fighter can get a bigger following

This is literally the only subject I agree with Arum on. This bout in a year or two should be massive.

What if one of them loses? It would be like someone taking the cake out and doing a massive **** on it. I know I'd rather a slightly undercooked cake than one that's covered in faeces.

    arum on floyd/pac
“The cake was baked for that fight over a year ago,” Arum said. “And there will come a point in time when the cake gets stale. Is it stale yet? Probably not. But we’re approaching a point with the public where they’re just so fed up contemplating that fight that it’s akin to the cake getting stale.”
    what a snake

Exactly. One of two things is going to happen here. Either one of them will lose, taking away from the appeal, or one (Juanma) will move up to a higher division. Thank you Arum for ****ing up yet ANOTHER fight.

hes exactly right, you get two young guys afraid to lose who are still green despite being top players in the sport and you get Bradley Vs Alexander

Let them develop continue to win maybe one loses in the process and you can get leonard vs hearns

patience is a virtue. If one of them loses, then

    1) they can rebuild their rep in a few fight. A loss is not the end of the world.

    2) a new star might be born in the winner.

Both of these guys are approaching 30(Gamboa actually turns 30 this year). They're really not all that young and have been fighting for a while. I can't see how this bout gets any bigger.

the thing is as long as pac is the cashcow, these guys will and will be second fiddle.

i'd like to see them fight but arum's the promoter and he's building up these two fighters very slowly. the benefits will pay off when these guys get paid in the millions.

this is true today we focus way too much on losses

early losses are good they are learning experiences

some fighters dont lose til their first big fight and fought to protect the 0 or didnt know what defeat felt like

a fighter who lost may not be afraid to lay it on the line

like how Leonard fought Hearns when Leonard lost his 0 and Hearns hadnt

I mean look at how Bradley and Alexander fought

now put in Khan who is phenomenal since defeat

Bob can take this cake and shove it up his ass. They should be negotiating a rematch by now.

Juanma is really the only one that can get a big following because of the PR fan base. But how many PR fans actually respect him. Arum won't let him fight caballero, and it makes it look like someone is scared of him. Even though Cotto had his ass kicked twice he is perceived to be someone who is always willing get in their with the best. Can you say the same thing about juanma?
