i think a lot depends on what the catchweight is...wasnt cotto having to work real hard to make 140 when he was still there?? so i would think the closer it is to 140, the worse for cotto. having said that, im through doubting whether manny can handle himself against a bigger opponent. a fight with cotto would be a war since cotto is a stand up warrior himself. someone will go out on their shield in that fight

Seeing as Cotto seems to be training himself, this gives me more confidence in Pacquiao, even though I picked Cotto to win this potential match-up yesterday.

I will never doubt pac but god damn this would be his toughest opponent ever! cotto is a beast!

there's a higher possibility of him getting KTFO in this fight than a fight with floyd.

Pacman is a very generous and humble person outside the ring, how would the world be a brutal place? If all rich people was like Pac, the world would be a nicer place.

I think Cotto vs PAC will be scrapped any how. Once Cotto gets in there with Josh I think he'll pull out the "W" and wreck these plans. I doubt they'll want to face Josh given how big he is and that Josh may not be able to make the catch weight. So Mayweather vs PAC may take place this year.....we'll see.

:-( Just don't go betting the house on Cotto for this one. Just a word of advice. Josh will be too Big and too consistant with the Jab and walking Cotto down for Miguel to pull this one out. But it will be an exciting fight.

Only if his out of ring personality was dominant. If the in ring personality comes out a lot then you will see all hell break loose since Pacquiao somehow transforms from a smiling pixie that makes you think of puppy dogs, candies and rainbows to a monstrous fiend that would rip you apart and take your soul to get the victory over you.

The only way this fight would be competitive is if Cotto had to drain himself. I hope he is smart enough to see through this crap, he shouldn't be moving down in weight, everyone saw how bad he was begginning to look at 140. IF Cotto wants to make noise he should fight PBF, Shane, Berto, or Paul Williams at 147.

lol....so given the fact that Manny isn't even a natrual Jr WW yet he's making his mark in a division that he doesn't belong, you are basically saying it's unfair for Cotto to fight at a catch weight?:huh Even when he had MOST of his fights at 140 and it won't even be at 140! If the fight is NOT competitive it will not be b/c of the weight or being weight drained it will be b/c PAC is the better fighter. And cotto needs to stay away from Paul at WW. After he looses to Josh in June this fight might be off the radar anyway. I'd still like to see the fight even after Josh wins.

Not so long ago I would have dismissed the idea of Pacquiao fighting Cotto as a bad joke.
The fact Pacquiao would be happy to take this fight tells you all you need to know about his mentality as a fighter.
Having said that - unless the fight's at a catch-weight that causes Cotto to be really drained, I'd take him to ko Manny. Too big and too skilled.
The way Pac-man is destroying his opponents these days though, who knows?

    I agree, I completely agree.

If Pac wants an intervening fight, he should take on Valero. Valero is the perfect fight for him it will be like Hatton or Diaz all over again.

After a win like that against Hatton, a win over an undefeated Valero will be remembered kindly by history because people will tend to think of how good Pac was rather than how bad Valero is.

I'm not saying that Cotto would beat Floyd head to head.. but I see Cotto stylistically as a much more dangerous fight for Pac than Floyd.. just a hunch of mine.
